MO HIck BBQ has a rustic atmosphere and good BBQ and desserts.
East Office Bar has good food.
Frisco's Pub and Grill is one block off on Smith Street It has good food, a nice bar area, and stays open late. It has WiFi and an outdoor patio.
Rock Fair is a nice little bar with food and an outdoor patio.
Back in the Day Care and Main Street Bakery are open for breakfast. They have a nice patio area and some good specials. They, along with Frisco's, are down along the tracks in the historic uptown district.

Mace Supermarket: Impressive supermarket for small town

This may be a boring tip for many of you, but when you are driving on Route 19 or Interstate 44, this place might be very handy. I was for us!My friend forgot her work gloves. I forgot my toothbrush (how ordinary is that ? Everyone forgets their toothbrush. But I did remember the paste & floss!) And I didn't bring some vegetable oil to coat the wild salmon patties -- cooked over the coals of our campfire that night. I bought a small plastic bottle of cold-pressed sunflower oil for $2.89. Yummy dinner in the dark. We found all of that at Mace. They have a deli, and all the things you look for in a food market-- produce, meat, frozen foods galore, canned and packaged foods of all kinds, all the standard American foods and household items. A small section of greeting cards, a video rental section and more. They probably didn't have any gourmet foods of a great wine section, but this is rural Missouri. What would you expect? I didn't expect such a big store.

The aisles were so wide, too. And prices were good. They are open until 10 every night, except Sunday (9 on that day). There's clean rest rooms on the right when you first walk in the entrance. Just past the lottery ticket machine. di you know they sell ten dollar lottery tickets now?! I didn't know that. but I don't buy them at all.

What to pay: The prices were very reasonable.

In the heart of Cuba !

Favorite thing: 'Rather an unusual place name wouldn't you say"

"Well the guidebook says that it was named in support of Cuba when it was under Spanish rule"

"I guess that makes sense"

"Good photo opportunities then, the Cuba National Bank, Cuba Cigars etc"

"I think the island remains a tad more exciting"

"It hasn't got the Wagon Wheel motel, another prime route 66 venue. In fact the whole town shifted here to gain buisness from Route 66 when it first opened properly in the 1930's"

"A genuine Route 66 town then..."
