There's no place on earth more patriotic than small town America and Grant City is no exception. This large Veterans Memorial on the Worth County courthouse lawn lists the names of all the local veterans who have served their country. Names are listed on both sides of the board, categorized by the war in which the person served.

Favorite thing: Glenn Miller worked - and learned to play - in Grant City, Missouri

It was at this site that world famous band leader Glenn Miller acquired his first tombone and was taught to play by John Mosbarger, the town band director. Young Miller worked as a shoe shine boy in Mosbarger's Cleaning Parlor.
