In addition to the brick and mortar antique and clothing stores along Main Street Hannibal, the Mark Twain Days offers shoppers an opportunity to browse vendor kitsch in the city park. Unfortunately, we arrived too late, as the vendors had tarped their concessions for the night.
The downtown area has a number of shops geared to the passerby rather than the native. These include numerous souvenier shops, but also a very nice selection of local crafts and Indian arts, a few bookstores, heavy on Mark Twain of course, jams, candles, fudge, and more local favorites. Selected at random here is the Becky Thatcher House, really a souvenier shop with a small display.
