    Ozark Spook Lights

    About 12 miles SW of Joplin is an area known for the spook lights. They are unexplained orbs of light that shoot around the countryside...or they are reflections of headlights, depending on who you talk to. Even though I have planned many times to go sit on a godofrsaken empty country road to see them in person, I have always seemed to find something else to do. Maybe the meantime check the website listed for out of focus pics of some light blobs. Ciao!

    History abound! If you are a fan of classic architecture, then you have got to see Joplin's historic district! It is like a drive through museum... Majestic Victorian spires, Impressive colonials... Wow! The historic district is immediately north and west of downtown, take 7th west, then any of the first seven streets past main street north...

    In Shifenderfer (sp?) park is an interesting museam of early Joplin and mining. Eagle Pitcher had a large lead mine west of Joplin. I used to play in the mountain of trailings as a child.

    Park is not far west of the city on old US 66.
