Bo Ling's used to be a single location, and the Chinese food really tasted like authentic Chinese. Now it has 4-5 locations, and the food is just okay, and the prices going up and up. There are better places. The Genghis Khan restaurant is in my opinion the best overall for good food, and all you can devour. It is located in midtown KC, in an old area, revived for food and culture. Nikko is a typical Japanese fare with the presentation at the table for flipping food and carving up the portions. the price is $25-30. The food is okay, but I always want more due to skimpy portions.

    Bo Ling's: Bo Ling's

by AcornMan Written Jun 30, 2008

I'd sooner try counting the number of grains of sand on all the beaches of the world than to try counting the number of Chinese restaurants in the US. After a while, they all start tasting the same, and it's hard for me to pick out any one that stands out from the others. Even the oft-heralded (and in my opinion overpriced) PF Chang's is nothing special in my opinion. Maybe they all get their supplies from the same place, I don't know.

However, Bo Ling's was a very pleasant surprise. The food here is excellent, but still reasonably priced. The most notable thing is that the quality of their chicken is top notch. Rather than the low quality chicken found in most Chinese places, Bo Ling's uses only breast meat. Every single bite was absolutely delicious. For Chinese food, I definitely don't think you can beat this place.

    P.F. Chang's China Bistro: P.F. Chang's China Bistro

P.F. Chang's has decent Chinese food, but there's nothing special about it; certainly nothing to justify the outrageous prices they charge. Good Chinese food is so easy to find here (and for much less money) that it's just silly to pay this much for it. There are lots of great places to eat on the Plaza. Don't waste your time here unless you've tried all the others already.
