I haven't seen too much of Kansas City, (I have only been there 3 times for very short periods) but I can say that while visiting Kansas City you must go shopping on the Plaza. It is so much fun and there is so much to do and see. You should definatly look into spending a day walking up and down the Plaza.
Visit the Plaza for shopping, dining, and walking around.
The Plaza is considered the oldest shopping center in the United States. It is very pedestrian-friendly and has an excellent mix of stores, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment options. The Plaza is within walking distance of the Nelson Art Gallery, the Kemper Museum of Modern Art, the Missouri Repertory Theatre.
Kansas City hosts one of the world's first shopping centers, Country Club Plaza, known generally as the Plaza. Built in the early 20th century, and modeled on the townscape of Seville, Spain, the Plaza hosts theatres, upscale shops, and restaurants, all outdoors in a charmingly walkable environment. Add intricate tilework and bubbling fountains, blue skies and cute girls, and you're got yourself a first-rate shopping district.
Bundle up with your honey or your kiddies and take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage to view the color of the Christmas decorations.
Carriage ride through the Country Club Plaza.
My preference would be to ride during a falling snow under the Plaza Christmas lights.
Country Club Plaza seems more like a part of some European city than a part of KC. Great area for shopping and dining. It is a bit more upscale than Westport or the River Market.
