Marceline Things to Do
Visit Walt's boyhood home, sortof
First I want to emphasize that his boyhood home, which has been expanded and improved over the years, is the private residence of people who are unrelated to the Disney family, and the home itself is not open to the public. Please respect this.
However, drive back beside the home where there is a small parking area and signage to guide you, and you can walk backto see Walt's "Happy Place" (the barn where he staged animal shows for local kids) and his "dreaming tree" where he let his imagination go to work.Related to:

Main Street USA architecture?
OK lets get serious.
Take a good look at my photos of Marceline architecture, then go to my photos of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Which one of these do you think looks more like Main Street USA in Disneyland? Marceline claims to be the inspiration for Main Street USA, but the artist who designed the town for Walt Disney was from Fort Collins, Colorado. He showed Mr. Disney photos of Old Town Fort Collins and asked him if this was what he had in mind. Mr. Disney replied in the affirmative, and the artist went to work.Related to:
