The Bushwhacker Museum is a very nice history center. I met some nice folks there in period costume and learned about the area's history.
There were many interesting historical periods to learn about. The Osage Indians had lived in this area originally. Before the Civil War this area saw a lot of blood shed. During the Civil War the entire town was burned. After the Civil War was the era of outlaws like Frank and Jesse James.

I went to jail in Nevada... The jail is now a museum and I went to see it.
There is a great tour of the old jail. In the photo you can see me inside one of the cells. This jail was known as the worst jail in Missouri. After seeing inside of it I can understand why. Four men would share a room that measured less than two meters long by two meters wide. There are still strings tied to the ceiling where unlucky prisoners were strung up by the thumbs to be shown a lesson.
