This is a really good Chinese restaurant. Student discounts, but not too expensive the rest of the time, especially for lunch. And great food that you can have as much as you want of!
Favorite Dish: The buffet--I think it's the only choice!
Many fine resturants on both sides of the Lake East and West side all casual atmosphere and dress most on the water
Most are on water with docks for your boat
Favorite Dish: All types crusine from big franchises to down home Fish Fry on Fridays
This is another pizza parlor/restaurant owned by someone in my family. This one is my brother-in-law's restaurant. They do a thriving business here, but it's worth the wait.
Favorite Dish: Eveything, especially the pizza.
There are many great restaurants across Missouri. I only mention this one because it is that old fashioned kind of drive in place that was once so common. It is Simone's in Eldorado Springs.
Small white building with a large awning so cars can park in the shade during Summer.
Favorite Dish: I had a cheeseburger with sweet coleslaw on the top and spicey hot chili on the bottom. It was a unique blend of flavors and better than I expected.
Lambert's is the home of the throwed rolls! Yes, right! The waiters don't serve the rolls to your table - no, they throw them across the room! And you have to catch them! Sometimes the rolls fly like bombs on the ground or tables, because somebody can't catch them. It's great fun!
Favorite Dish: When I was at Lambert's I tried the barbeque pork steak with coleslaw and potato salad. I liked the meat and the coleslaw, but not the potato salad. But you can choose from a variety of side dishes.
Only 2.50 for your lunch. By the way, it was the dirtiest restuarant I have ever been in, but if you want an authentic, old time, hillbilly dining experience there is no other place in the world to get it.
Favorite Dish: They have plate lunches. You get your pick of meat from about four choices served with whatever they have that day. Ussually slaw, mashed potatoes, black eye peas, etc...
The restuarant is decorated with antique pots and pans hanging from old wagon wheels and old menus from all over the world covering the walls.
Favorite Dish: Anything breakfast from Belgian waffles to spinach and feta omellettes.
Lambert's Cafe - Home of the 'Throwed Bread'
Big Big size of food serving. Never go alone if you are a small eater! The price is reasonable for the size of food it serves.
Favorite Dish: I love the ribs this place serves and my favorite side dish is the 'Pineapple Walnut Salad'. The freshly made bread that is thrown to you is excellent. I always ask for molasses to go with the bread. Another all-time favorite is the 'Fried Potato' which will be serve to you if only you have the dinner plate :( (They used to allow you to eat even before the dinner plate is served).
Unbelievably low-priced; a very classy menu - Austrian chef, French-trained, who does sweetbreads, French onion soup and crayfish appetizers with equal aplomb. Wonderful, gentle service and quiet atmosphere.
Favorite Dish: French Onion Soup, nice salad or white asparagus, followed by roast duck with orange or peppercorn sauce. Nice crisp crusted bread accompaniment - and an interesting choice of deserts. Pepper Steak is also outstanding. Lovely Veal Oscar.
Jess & Jim's Steakhouse -- They've been serving folks for 60 years.
The prices are good...midrange.
Favorite Dish: I believe this would be STEAK! They serve a huge potato with your meal (unless you want one of the other choices).
O'Malleys' America Bowman Restaurant. Their signs say Authentic 1842 Irish Carvery. Not sure what a carvery is, but I assume it's about carving meat---maybe the early Irish deli??
Old 1842 restaurant with plank floors and a Pub and Patio Bar.
Favorite Dish: I had a huge burger that was terrific! Everything was..my Dad, Gary and Pat had the Reuben..it looked and they said tasted fantastic.
HEADS UP!! It's throwed rolls!!! Lamberts restaurant in Sikeston,Mo. or 8 miles south of Springfield on Hwy.65 has
SOME of the finest dining to be found. It's a bit DIFFERENT at first, but WOW what a taste. This is not to say there are no other great eaterys, it just came to mind first. There are the casino's in St. Louis and Kansas City plus
all the fine restaurants around the rest of the state. And don,t forget Lake of the Ozarks and the Branson area.
Favorite Dish: The all you CAN eat 'Cajun Catfish or Shrimp scampi or maybe the frog legs & crawfish at Le Mare's in Sedalia, Mo.on Hwy65. It's good, I GERERANTY!!
This is a different kind of place to eat. What's different is how the food is served. There is a little train that runs on the ceiling of the room. The little train brings your order to your table and then a small lift lowers the food to the table. Its only hamburgers but I thought it very different to eat at. I could not really take pictures of the little train, it moved to fast. So here is the menu. I ate at the Crown Center Restarurant. Thats located next to the Hallmark visitor center.
