Cheering with a stadium full of Cards fans has to be one of the best St. Louis experiences!! I got to go to a game this August, in the new stadium, with 104 F temperature! But we were lucky to be sitting in the shade. Had a great time! At night, the lights were blazing & you really can see inside from the street, just by walking by. What an amazing glimpse & architectual choice to behold. All the seats appear to good ones, too. I sat in the Upper level and had no complaints.
During Play Offs, I took the Tour, with my brother and younger daughter. For $10, you get to see a lot of the inside of the stadium and stand behind Home Plate and visit the Cards dug out. Tour was a lot of walking, so not recommended if you can't walk for an hour. Good picture taking opts.
The Cardinals new "nest" fits in with the classic red brick architecure of old St. Louis, with huge arches of real brick! Looks very good.
If you're interested, there's lots of info & a web cam on their web site. A web site that could keep a fan busy for hours!
Equipment: Lots of money for the beer (yes, the beer really does cost $8 a cup) & foods, sunscreen, ball cap...oh, you know what to bring!!!
The veggie burgers were unusally large and one of the lowest prices on the menu They tasted Ok, too. You can bring your own water, in plastic bottles, which I highly recommend. Their bottles cost $4.50 each!!! And drinking fountains are not that plentiful. See their site, for what you can and cannot bring inside.

This is the real heart of downtown. All living beings I saw in downtown Saint Louis were walking to or from Bush Stadium. Even I, knowing absolutely nothing about baseball, hesitated facing the idea of getting myself a ticket to see the Cardinals. And I was "obliged" to buy a Pujol's red shirt to Horacio (he is a Benfica's supporter, so red is his colour).
To balance things, Tito defends my Sporting (green), and... oh my luck, green was the colour of Philadelphia baseball team, so the second shirt...

The stadium to the north of downtown center is an anchor to try and revive this area once deteriorated. Still somewhat has that feel, though. The American Center for convention and other events and Visitors Center are located close by

The baseball has been an avid sport for the city for decades, especially while the Busch family owned it. The stadium got renovated, but the adjacent Ballpark Village concept dried up and no one seems to know when, and if any investment will take place for shops and eateries next to the park.

The new Busch Stadium was built on the footprint of the former stadium. It was interesting to find these plaques denoting the original location of the right field foul line and outfield wall of the old stadium.

The "New" Busch Stadium opened in April, 2006. It's a beautiful "retro-classic" design allows an unobstructed view of its surroundings, including a panoramic view of the downtown St. Louis skyline, and the city's distinctive Gateway Arch. The Arch and several other significant St. Louis landmarks are reflected in the park's architecture.
I love the excitement of being at a ballpark on game day. The day I went, the Cardinal's had already lost the first three games of their homestand to the Colorado Rockies. Still, each fan there that day just KNEW they were going to win TODAY. It is that kind of optimism and energy that brings me back time and again, and checking out baseball stadiums whenever I travel, whenever I can.
Equipment: Bring your hat and glove - or buy them in the Fan Shop. You'll pay more, but what a souvenir! If you have kids, go on a promotional day - the day I went, each kid got a Martinez backpack. And you can't go wrong with a foam #1 finger!

The Cardinals is the best Sports watching ever. Okay so I may be a little biased, however every game is a good game at Busch stadium. The fans are awesome and very into the game. Of course it is always better when we win. There are several bars around the stadium to go to after the game.
Also sometimes they have concerts in the stadium and I am waiting for us to be able to host the NHL Winter Classic!!!

.... while it still is Busch Stadium.
I grew up watching the Cardnials on TV and listening to them on the radio, but there is nothing like a game in Busch Stadium. People in St. Louis take their sports seriously - and have fun at the games. This is a stadium where people know their baseball and their beer. You will hear the crowd cheer for a single pitch.
The new Busch Stadium offers great views. This view is from seats above first base / left field.
You can bring your on drinks and snacks into the ballpark - just not alcohol.

Golfing is so popular in Forest Park, in all kinds of weather. I don't know how to golf, but observe the diversity of golfers the many times I am in the park. Using the Probstein course is relatively inexpensive. You can rent a nice motorized cart or walk. No caddies available, as far as I've noticed.
Very nice, new golf house with a restaurant, too. Newly created landscaping and beautiful water features.

While you can watch the blues being played by musicians in several bars in St. Louis, to see the Blues play hockey you have to go to Scottrade Center (which used to be called the Savvis center, and was called something else before that.). It's downtown, and has it's own Metrolink stop.
