Ivy Rose Quilts & Gifts: A Great Place to Purchase Quilts
While visiting the old town of Branson (not the "strip", I saw some lovely handmade quilts in the window of a store called IVY ROSE Quilts & Gifts.
I went inside, and that was my downfall.
It was a fabulous shop with quilts of all sizes and all prices. Some were machine made; others were handmade. I was like a "kid in a candy shop"!
What to buy: You guessed it, I purchased a beautiful quilt for Allan and I in seafoam green and rose with appliques and hand stitching. I also bought the Shams that matched and a pillow cover. In addition, I purchased a Red/Cream Queen-sized quilt for my sister Ronda with Shams to match. It was in the DOUBLE WEDDING RING design; she adored it.
I would highly recommend visiting IVY ROSE Quilts & Gifts Shop in the old town of Branson, Missouri.Related to:

Padded Hanger, Inc. in Festus, MO: For Unique New & Slightly Used Items
While shopping in a Discount Shoe Store, one of the shop owners told us about a place about six blocks away in Festus, Missouri, called PADDED HANGER INC. So, we hopped in the car and went to find it. Finding it was not easy.
Once we found it, we agreed with the woman who told us about it: it's unique! It's really an upscale resale shop and discount new items shop with "everything but the kitchen sink" thrown in for good measure. As you are able to see in the photograph, it's a packed place. The young girl who waited on Jill, was friendly, helpful, and cooperative.
Hours: 10 am-6:30 pm Monday-Friday
9 am-5:30 pm Saturday
1 pm-5:oo pm Sunday
Sherry Handshy is the Owner.
What to buy: You can purchase women's clothing and accessories, small homeware items, wedding dresses, jewelry, and wigs. Jill needed a wig to fit onto a mannequin at the Lake County Museum or the Rudd House. The girl found the perfect one for what was needed.
What to pay: From a few cents to hundreds of dollars, depending on the item.Related to:

First Capitol Trading, Inc.: For classic gifts...
Please CLICK THE PHOTO
While staying overnight in Saint Charles, Missouri, on the way back from Arkansas, Allan and went looking for a gift our neighbor who took care of Sally Cat.
We were having difficulty finding an appropriate gift until we discovered First Capitol Trading, Inc. which specializes in fine limited edition collectibles. This store has it all.
It is a huge place and nicely arranged so that finding what you are looking for is easy.
I was looking for something with a Golden Retriever motif. I found the perfect statue of a Golden that looks exactly like her dog. She collects items that represent Golden Retrievers.
This one was a limited edition and was beautifully constructed. Then, I discovered [for fun] Corn on the Cob Holders that were the front and back ends of Golden Retrievers!! I laughed so much.
Of course, when she received these gifts, she was thrilled, and she, too, laughed about the corn holders.5s*
What to buy: First Capitol Trading, Inc. specializes in all kinds of collectibles. The people who own it are very helpful and well schooled in collectibles. They have nice prices that meet the needs of every economic range. The owner wrapped by gifts for free, which I certainly appreciated.
What to pay: There is a wide price range [whcih is a good thing]. I saw items that cost a few dollars up to items that cost a thousand dollars.Related to:

Bass Pro Shop's Outdoor World: America's Largest Outdoor Store
In recent years the Bass Pro Shop company has built several new Outdoor World stores in major American cities, and I have visited several of them, in Orlando, Cincinnati, Nashville, etc. All of the stores are large and impressive, but none compares to the original and granddaddy of them all, Outdoor World of Springfield, MO, sprawling over several buildings with many acres of floorspace.
This is more than just a sportings goods shop - much more. Here you will find many delightful surprises including restaurants, wildlife museum, indoor waterfall, pistol range, archery range, trout streams complete with live fish and ducks, a live alligator and snapping turtle exhibit, and even a barber shop. Folks flock here from far and near, making Outdoor World the most visited tourist attraction in Missouri. Last time I was in the She-me State I drove many miles out of my way just to see it again. I spent two hours wandering around the 300,000-square-foot store in amazement, and walked out with only a bag of chocolate covered peanuts. What a bargain!
What to buy: Everything you ever dreamed of finding in hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor gear, plus a very fine selection of outdoor clothing. I have bought many of my sturdy travel clothes here.
What to pay: Reasonable prices, and some very good sale items can usually be found.
Reeves Boomland: Ultimate Tourist Junk Store
If your idea of fine art includes Elvis on black velvet,or your choice of dining apparel goes to shot glasses from all 50 states ...this is your place...Boomland is located off I 57 in Southern Missouri (you'll see signs in all directions for many miles) ...the Boomland name comes from the fact that about one acre of this store comprises the largest fireworks selection I've ever seen. There are ball caps for all your favorite teams...an amazing collection of knick-knacks ranging from hot sauces to leather jackets to mirrors engraved with bible verses...it just goes on and on ...the store must cover 3 acres, and offers a glimpse into American tastes on treasures for the home and road...

St. Louis Union Station: Midwest Charm! Fun! History!
Name of Shop: St. Louis Union Station
St. Louis Union Station is a classic midwest train station remodeled for commercial use. If you didn't know, St. Louis was a gateway to the "WEST". It had a major shipping network by virtue of its central location. Being right on the Mississippi River plus having both the Missouri River and Ohio River's not to far away for West and East water transport offered a not of options driving many efficiencies.
The city and business community have done a fine job keeping this location in top condition over the many years that I have visited.
Women's, Men's, Children, Hobbies, etc. merchandising for all packed in a easy enclosed convenient location right downtown. Also, they're a few cool bars attached for those men and women on the hunt for a good drink @ Houlihan's Bar & Restaurant.
This place is located walking distance to:
> Busch Stadium
> Kiel Auditorium
> St. Louis Galleria
> Rams Stadium (a little further but an easy summer/spring/fall's walk)
> LaClede;s Landing
Shopping or basic entertainment. This place is open, high ceiling atmosphere. They have plenty of fun things for both adults and children. Sports gear!
Check out the guys singing and telling jokes while they churn up some rich fudge. Funny. Mighty sweet fudge too. They're an engaging crew of young people.

Bass Pro Shop Outdoor World: Fishing Nirvana
The national headquarters for the catalogue fishing and outdoor retailer, Bass Pro Shop is located in Springfield. The store is huge and has all kinds of outdoor goods, especially items for fishermen. This is a perfect place to stop and buy supplies for fishing on Table Rock Lake or other fishing lakes and streams.
Next to the Bass Pro Shop is a Wildlife museum, which has some large exhibits with live river otters, beavers, salt water and fresh water fish, and other exhibits on other North American wildlife. Both the Bass Pro Shop and Wildlife musuem are well worth stopping for if you enjoy doing things outdoors, you'll probably find something of interest.
Hartsbug's Cycle Shop: Buy it on the Trail
While you'd ordinarly expect to pay more for cycle equipment in stores on the trail, this shop in Hartsburg sells stuff for 75% to 50% cheaper than I could find in Iowa or Springfield, MO. If the first two days left you with a sore bum, you might want to invest in a better seat, or replace the water bottle you lost wading (sorry, Brits, paddling) in the river.
Time yourself properly, though, because they open later than you'd ordinarily want to wait around in the morning.
What to buy: Bike gear, accessories, mens and womens clothes, t-shirts, power bars, and fresh fruity-licoius drinks.
What to pay: Cheap as all that dirt on your shoesRelated to:
