Surviving the Claws of Death

At the Bass Pro Shops (again, few can pass through Springfield without falling under its spell), there are countless places where you can step into the situation or setting and have your portrait taken. Displays are numerous enough to prevent the accumulation of anxious visitors.

Unique Suggestions: Just take the shot, shake off the shame and go about your business. . .to the next display.

Fun Alternatives: Have your kids step in front of the displays rather than accept the ridiculous position yourself.

The biggest tourist trap in...

The biggest tourist trap in the area is undoubtably Branson. This town is the ultimate in TACKY. Oh well.

Other tourist traps:

Lamberts 'Home of the throwed rolls' (I guess if you like being hit in the head with hot bread, this restaurant would be fun, but I think it is just over-priced kitch. Plus, the food isn't even all that good. The best stuff they offer is the bread and the free 'pass arounds': fried potatoes, fried okra, & black eyed peas. And they ONLY take cash, so keep that in mind if you are ever forced to go.)

Bass Pro (this is at least a legitimate business even if it is a little overdone.) The new Wonders of Wildlife outdoor museum nextdoor is cool, but not really worth the $11 admission price. At least not more than once.

That's a picture of me at the WOW museum.
