It is always fun to meet the people as you travel. I had nice conversations with a friendly park ranger and two cute temporary workers from the Ukraine.
This is a resort area so they have a couple of lodges, a campground, a restaurant, and a gift shop; along with some art and souvenir stores. The buildings themselves are interesting too.
Here are links to the lodges:
Apgar is a small resort area about 2 miles east of the West Glacier Entrance to Glacier National Park. It is closely associated with West Glacier and is really considered part of it by some. This is a great place to stop when entering the park from the west. Beautiful Area!
Start your tour of the park at one of the visitors centers. If you are entering from the west that would be the Apgar Visitors Center. Here you will pay the entrance fee ($25 summer; $15 winter) and you can get information from the helpful rangers to help enhance your enjoyment based on the time you have and your personal interests.
