Good Golf Course in Big Sky Valley

by charlenemixa Updated May 28, 2014

The Big Sky Golf Course winds through the valley and alpen meadows of the Gallatin Mountains. The course is wide open with minimal trees but a lot of high native grasses with water or hazards coming into play on a few holes. Well maintained and good pace of play. Golfers will enjoy a round of golf on the course. Great views of the Gallatin Mountains surround the course.
Golfers will enjoy the course. We were glad we played with another couple who was able to point out the nuances of the golf course. Plus the couple gave us a lot of local information and insight.

TIP: We took a one day/night diversion from our Yellowstone National Park trip to take a visit to Big Sky for golf and to see the Resort. Staying in West Yellowstone it was an easy drive (maybe 90 minutes) to Big Sky. We were glad we stayed the evening to see more of the resort, but it would also have been easy to return to West Yellowstone for the evening.

Big Sky is more than skiing!

by charlenemixa Updated May 28, 2014

We haven't skied in Big Sky but on our recent visit in the fall, we see that it is truly a top notch ski resort. The Resort has expanded to have more opportunities for activities in summer and to become a summer destination resort. The mountains around it are beautiful and it has a large variety of accommodations from hotel/lodge rooms to multi-bedroom suites, condos, and homes. Summer activities include great fly fishing, paintball, mountain biking, archery, golf, spa, and other resort activities. Their new zipline and high ropes courses are also big hits for summer visitors. they also have a great progam for kids to allow parents free time. A place you can go and not need to leave until time to go home. Just sitting and enjoying the cool mountain air is great, too.

TIP: Big Sky is definitely a Destination Vacation. It has plenty to keep visitors busy in the summer months and is within a reasonable distance of Yellowstone National Park. We were there the end of season for summer (September) so it was not crowded and had few people visiting at this time of season.
