Visit the Greyciff Prairie Dog Town. There were prairie dogs everywhere, and they are fun to watch. They were squeaking and chirping, and then running around. Big Timber nestles against a main railroad and has a level crossing at the NW end of McLeod Street, thus every passing freight train has to announce its arrival and these can be quite frequent into the early hours of the morning.
During the winter this isn't a problem, just keep the windows closed and if you stay here during the summer get a place with air-con or a room facing SE! Or buy earplugs!
