Favorite thing: If your in Butte, make sure you look up into the sky, especially, either in the morning or evening. The sunsets are absolutely beautiful here, were at a perfect altitude, where the sun glows. It's to hard to describe, you just have to see it for yourself. By the way this picture is not even close to what it looks like in real life.
If you have never been to Butte before you must take the Old Number 1 Trolley tour through Uptown Butte. The trolley is an old street car used in the mining city, back in the day. The tour is approximately an hour and half. It's fun!
Fondest memory: The Columbia Gardens was the most beautiful and funnest place, it was a amusement park, built for the kids of Butte to have a fun place to spend their weekends. Unfortunately it burnt down many years ago. But now the community is pulling together, they have a project where they're hand carving carousel horses. Around 16 have already been completed. Another group is saving the original water town and turning it into a Columbia Gardens museum. More details will be added when they become available.
The Lady of the Rockies
This is a 90 ft. statue on top of the Rocky Mountains. To get there you have to take a bus tour up to the top. But they are working on a tram to take people up to the top. It should be completed in a couple years. Also at the base of the Lady is a Womens Memorial Wall and a Chapel. This is the second largest statue in America. Right next to the Statue of Liberty.
For a delicious meal you must go to the 'Derby'
Fondest memory: The 'Lady of the Rockies' is a beautiful sight weather you travel up the mountain to see her or just gaze at her from town or from the historical boards on HWY 15.
Fondest memory: Winning $15 on a nickel video poker machine. They have these little 'Casinos' all over in Montana. The bartender at the Treasure Chest said they can have up to 20 vidoe gambling machines per establishment. The restaruants and bars all seem to have them. But, they only have Poker and Keno - no blackjack.
