Columbus Off The Beaten Path
The drive to Red Lodge, a ski station an hour away from Columbus is really pretty as you are driving straight at the mountains. After going through Absarokee, the county's second town, rolling hills and ranch lands just go by your car window as the Beartooth Mountains grow larger and larger. It's quite a sight. If you take the road and turn to go towards Fishtail, you will drive along the mountain range and finally, reach the Stillwater Mine, which strangely, is just at the entrance of Custer National Forest. There are many trails starting from there and a 27 miles hike will even take you to Yellowstone National Park! More details coming soon.
