A fleet of yellow touring cars are housed in Gardiner. They were manufactured by the White Motor Corporation of Cleveland. Drivers were known as "gearjammers" and were the best paid of concession employees.
They are still being used at some of the park lodges. We did see them at Lake Yellowstone Hotel.
The surrounding wilderness, rolling hills, pines, snow-capped mountains and wide open spaces was refreshing and attractive.
Driving to and from Gardiner we also saw bison and elk. Other wildlife sitings could include birds, antelope, bears, big horn sheep, coyotes, mule deer and wolves.
The main street is lined with numerous shops, restaurants and saloons catering to visitors on their way to Yellowstone. The town is sort of charming with it's rustic, western facades.
Not all of these are on the main street but within the confines of the town:
28 - motels and bed and breakfasts
11 - restauarants & bars
33 - shops and services
i live there in the summer with my dad who works for the park so i would take someone wite water rafting it is the best place to go!! There are like 5 places to choose from but the 2 best are Yellowstone raft company and wild west rafting.
Fondest memory: Spending time there with my family!
The thing about Gardiner Montana is that it will let you stay just outside Yellow stone National park and allow you to save some money while visiting the park. There are also a number of outfitters that will take you fishing or white water rafting in the area.
Fondest memory: Just the cute western town look was pretty nice, the surrounding mountains provide a nice view also.
