Elkhorn Grill: Not Very Impressed
We ate here for dinner our first night at Glacier after checking into our vacation home. We wanted something close to the house in Hungry Horse and this place looked good and had good reviews. It's a small restaurant and we were a group of 10. Since they seemed short-staffed, we volunteered to just eat outside at the picnic tables. Despite putting an automatic gratuity, we had to order our food at the counter and then come back inside to get it when it was finally ready. The one server who was on wasn't very friendly, despite the fact that we were doing all his work. And the food was mediocre at best. My wife and I split a sirloin steak. It was over-cooked and dry, and tasted like a cheap piece of meat. The loaded baked potato was microwaved. Definitely not what we were expecting from this place. Everyone in our group was generally dissatisfied with their meals. Not sure why this place got such good reviews.Related to:

Elkhorn Grill: Fun local place
There are elk burgers here, a meat that is not always easy to come by. They also have great huckleberry pie. I had the cream pie and the folks had the other pie. I had to try the huckleberry soda also.
We ordered at the bar and then they brought the food out to us. The service was happy and really good.
They also have preserves for sale. Not just the huckleberry, like across the street, but pickles and other home made items.

Hungry Horse and the Scenery
Favorite thing: Hungry Horse is a very small town of about 800 (down 12% from 2000) located along US Highway 2 in Northwest Montana not too far from Glacier National Park. There is not much here but the scenery is great. Make sure you stop at the pulloff on the highway to see Bad Rock Canyon, and the Flathead River.
Fondest memory: The beautiful scenery.Related to:
