Miles City, MT features the greatest pioneer museum I have had the opportunity to visit: The Range Riders Museum. Founded by children of pioneers who settled the eastern Montana badlands, this museum was solely put together of artifacts, memorabilia, and photographs passed down by these original settlers.
Now, everyone knows about the Battle of Little Bighorn. Go there today and you'll find a hill covered in small grave markers, appearing less as a battlefield and a turning point in history than a scattered, poorly organized cemetery. Now, imagine instead that you were an original homesteader on the plains of eastern Montana riding your horse over the hills to the site of the battle. What do you think you'd find? Check out the cases at the Range Riders Museum, and you'll see what they found!
The stories in every artifact are imagination-inspiring! The gun room holds the rusted out barrel of a rifle, found cocked and ready to fire, sitting unused against a door frame of an abandoned cabin. What happened to its owner? Who would leave behind a cocked rifle? The main room has a beautiful piece of burled wood, naturally grown into a cross. It was used to mark a cowboy's grave, long before the longhorns had left the range. It's things like these that truly solidify the "old" west, and make it something that anyone can be excited by!

The Range Riders Museum is a great place to learn about the extensive history of the area. Recreations of Fort Keogh and area ranches are present, as well as a very large gun collection and western artifacts.

The food at the Cellar Casino is great - they've got everything from pizza to steak to pacos (a local food, I guess). Attached to the dining area is a casino with video poker and keno machines, but don't be fooled - the food here is no gamble! :D
Favorite Dish: My favorite dish is the Colorado Claim Jumper pizza. It's got just enough kick and spice to liven up a meal. The deep dish crust is particularly good.
