It can get very windy in the valley, where the airport and city are located.
The day I took off (1/2008), the pilot said that you could do chinups on the windsock at the end of the runway. Judging by my drive to the airport, getting pushed around on the road, I believed his joke. It made the takeoff rough, but not bad enough to shake us around in our seats, just vibrations.
