Fiddler's Green: Watch Sports and Drink in Billings

by Basaic

This is a sports bar with a casual atmosphere. Several big screen TVs showing sports shows. A decent selection of beers and they served a good strong rum and coke. This place is much better for drinking than eating. I saw sports T-shirts, cowboy attire, and biker attire.

Fiddler's Green
any old saloon in Whitefish: Whitefish

by richiecdisc

Whitefish, Montana has become a bit of a celebrity center with some Hollywooders having bought ranches to escape the southern California crush of people. It's a real old west town with great old saloons. The Palace and the Great Northern are both atmospheric old places with very friendly staff and a fine selection of local beers. Try the beers from the Laing Brewery or Melikian Ales from Whitefish Brewing. This was on my first trip to the area in 1994 and when we drove through town in 2008 it did not seen quite as cool though I cannot say conclusively if that is the case. If in the area, check it out and let me know.

The night life in Bozeman is...

by Davenusa

The night life in Bozeman is dead! Even though there is a college in the town. The only places we found to drink had a lonely Draw Poker machine in the corner and two old cowboys at the black leather bar! Dirty boots and a cowboy hat.

The 'city's' (population 20,000+) have typical dance clubs etc. Smaller town have Bars, just don't expect to see a mechanical bull. Pool Tables abound in them. Try 'Shooting some stick' sometime, but beware playing for money or worse yet, drinks. Wear anything too flashy in the bars and you might wake up with a black eye. Keep it subtle. Blue Jeans and a plain shirt. Also, don't try to dress like a cowboy or rancher if you're not. Be friendly and the people will be too.

The Missoula Club: The Missoula Club

by kuta2001

It is a down and dirty local pub with a jar of pickled gizards on the bar and poker machines in the back. Here you will find the best burger west of the Mississippi. Nothing fancy. Jeans and boots will suffice.

Missoulla is a college town...

by JrSkymonkey

Missoulla is a college town so there are plenty of bars and casinos. Including the utterly hilarious 'Fred's' at the truck stop at the intersection of I-90 and Hwy 200 for all your nude dancing and alchohol needs. Check out the shirts they have for sale with the pig and sheep on them. Pretty funny...and somewhat true outside of Missoulla. In Superior dont miss the 4 aces and Doug's Montana bar. If you continue to the west on I-90 there's the Talking Bird Saloon in St.Regis and the 'Montana Bar' I think it's called in Saltese. There's only one bar in this metropolis so you cant miss it. There is no dress code in this state.

The 'Stube on Big Mountain and the Great Northern in Whitefish. The 'Stube is a great place to hang after a day of skiing. It has air hockey, intriguing paraphenalia all over the walls and doesn't mind having beer spilled on the floor. The Great Northern down the Mountain in Whitefish is a bit bigger and heats up later in the evening. And the atmosphere is downright brotherly. dress code?

The Northern Bar, located in Whitefish, MT.This is one of about only 3 or 4 places in the Flathead Valley where you can go for live music and dancing. It is more for the younger college crowd. you can wear whatever you want...usually casual

Ennis Main Street with 3 authentic western bars.Ennis is a wonderful western town and the bars each have a unique atmosphere. Locals, fishermen, tourists, ranchers all mingle. Jeans are the uniform of Montana. Cowboy hats and boots are optional, but they should be work-worn if you wear them.
