Superior Things to Do
The Superior Ranger District office of the US Forest Service is located along the river in Superior. You can rent the Thompson Peak Lookout Tower for only $30 per night. This 40' tall tower stands on top of a 5000' mtn. Very secluded location with modern box. 360degree views thru the glass windows or from the completely fenced deck. One bed, two desks, two refrigerators, fire dial, even dishes and flatware. No water or indoor bathroom so bring your own H20. One of the nicest fire towers I have ever seen and a great place to relax or work on your complete tan! Make sure you lock the gate behind you and leave the tower in better condition than when you found it. There is a fullsized fridge in the lobby and an electric stove so bring your beer and food up with you or travel down to Superior to get some grub.Related to:

Me, hanging out and goofing off along the Clark Fork river between Superior and St. Regis. This photograph was shot by my son. Many people fish for trout while floating their rafts and drift boats along this stretch of river.
View of the Montana and Idaho state line from atop Sunrise Mountain. The cirque basin beneath the timberline ridge contains Phoebe and French lakes. Awesome backcountry just waiting for your company. Sunrise mountain has Alpine fir, Mountain Hemlock and the much sought after Whitebark Pine. This mountain, and the forground ridgeline, border the proposed Great Burn Wilderness area.
