Gotta love the Blues! Lincoln has a treasure, albeit a grubby one, in the Zoo Bar at 14th street between O and P Streets. Blues artists from all over the world get booked here, and we even made "The Blues for Dummies" Book! Sometimes classic Blues stars pop in for a good time without booking and collaborate with whoever is playing.
A calendar can be found online at www.zoobar.com.
It is worth a trip to say you've been, and truly, wherever in the world you wear your Zoo Bar t-shirt people will notice. There is a pocket-handkerchief dance floor right in front of the band that fills up full. Bring a marker for the bathroom wall, it's that kind of place. And it is no joke that you have to stand in line right under the guitarist to go to the bathroom! Classic, people, classic. Unique!
Dress Code: Whatever. Definitely come as you are!

Celebrate the middle of the week at WC's on Wednesdays, especially if you're looking for great drink specials! They offer $3 domestic pitchers and $4 import pitchers (my favorite being Boulevard Wheat with lime!). At WC's you can sit by yourself and write (okay, maybe only I would choose to do that), play music from a large selection on their jukebox, throw a few games of darts, play some pool or simply sit at the bar and chat with any of their extremely friendly bartenders. They've done some remodeling and there are TV's galore. It's a great place to just hang out and relax. Pictures will soon be posted!
Dress Code: Come as you are! On Wednesdays, no one really seems to be trying to impress anyone else, and WC's is the only place where I feel comfortable in anything from platform shoes to a baseball cap.

While Lincoln is a small city in a sparsely populated state - it is the home of one of the best blues bars in the country. It's small, it's dark, it's dirty - as one performer noted, "It's greazzy." But the music invades you as if you were taking it intraveneously. Where is do you have to duck under the neck of the bass guitar to go to the toilet??
Dress Code: I've seen everything from cut-off jeans to tuxedo's - ANYTHING is "right".

Lincoln has a number of great bars and a few clubs to go to. Most are located within 3 blocks of each other on 'O' Street between 12-14th Street. Here's a few...Sandy's, Alexandria 2112, Iguana's, Woody's (I'll add to this) Have a good time!

Most of the bars are located on 'O' street, which is the main downtown area. Some of my favorites are Woody's, Barry's, Iquana's, Morgan's, Sandy's, the Zoo Bar, and Barrymores as well at Guitars and Cadillacs, and PO Pears.
Barry's is a big Husker hangout, Zoo Bar is Jazz, Guitars and Cadillacs is a country bar, and PO Pears has a fun setting with bands and sand volleyball during the summer.

My favorite bits of Lincoln are nearly all within only a couple blocks of one another, with the Lied Center for performing arts in the center. First, The Lied Center: The Lied gets quality...

There is no place like...Lincoln!

This is the town of my birth. Unfortunately the hospital where I was born is now an old folks home, but in a strange way, I guess there is some kind of symmetry to all that. At first glance the town...
