Great German Food! by rsleisk We went to the Das Rheinland restaurant downtown. The food was excellent. I had Jagerschnitzel and a humungous mug of Paulaner Heffeweizen. This was the largest mug I had ever seen, quite large, a meal unto itself!

Austin's Steakhouse is located in the Old Market District of Downtown Omaha. My wife and I have had several meals there and can highly recommend trying it for yourself. Atmosphere is informal and a bit on the "Old West" side. Try the Filet Mignon. Perhaps the most tender anyplace. Prices are reasonable considering what you will receive in return. Service is snappy, although at night it is not uncommon to expect to wait for quite a while to be seated. The best restaurant in the Old Market, by far. I hang with some of the waiters/waitresses and chefs so I know that they put real effort into creating & making great dishes. It's a classy, but not snobby bar/restaurant where the food choice is changed often enough that you don't get tired of what they offer. Their beers are made fresh on site so they have a uh . . .good impact. Their old beermeister Rich would give you an extensive tour of the whole operation anytime you wanted & give you an educatin in the complex but fun beermaking process.
Where to start? They have a great filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and (beer?) gravy that makes me drool with pleasure like Homer Simpson. I'm fairly picky when it comes to dishes, but I'll order the Ojo Caliente on the night they have their $5 pizzas (forget which night) or any of the regular or special dishes. I can't recall them all now. I'm from the East Coast & I know when fish is cooked right. They correctly and deliciously blacken their fish dishes with spices rather than burn 'em black like some other Old Market restuarants do, like the horrible Butsy freakin' LeDoux's. And they are the only restaurant I've ever known that fills their Jalepeno poppers with a tasty Cheddar cheese mix instead of whatever is normally inside poppers. That shows me they pay attention to small details & I know they consistently provide good food. Funnily, but very oddly, the only people I've ever seen who don't get their food made the right way are the waiters. I think it's an inside joking jab between the chefs & waiters but they're the only people I've ever seen complain there. They don't take resevations, and aren't open on Sundays, so get there early and prepare for a wait in the bar.
Pasta E Pollo in the white sauce. The roasted garlic side is the best, you can use it like butter Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: 3001 S 32ndOther Contact: 402-345-5656

Brother Sebastians by Roari Beloved by Omahans for romantic or special occasion dining, Brother Sebastian's dark, cozy dining rooms with "monastic winery" ambiance are perfect for enjoying steak, prime rib, seafood and fowl. The service and food are excellent, and the wine list is extensive. This restaurant is on every "short list" of locales for prom dates, anniversaries or any other special occasion.

It's a three way tie: Ahmad's, Sam and Louie's, Thai Spice (though the Female Unit would suggest Nettie's of Katie's Taverna) Omaha has an amazing array of resturants, ranging from Jamaican, to Korean, to Cajun, to American... Most are incredible. Don't rip yourself off by eating at some bland corporate chain.
Ahmad's - Anything is amazing - the weirder the better Sam and Louie's - The veggie Stromboli Thai Spice - Southern Chicken (substitute tofu for the meat) Nettie's - The Female Unit likes something called the 'Super Toad' Katie's Taverna - The Spanikopita and Tirokopita are amazing. There is a Greek band that plays one Friday a month, and they are good! Groups of diners join in dancing which is fun (you dont really have to know the steps!)

A fantastic Italian food place that gives you sooo much food you'll have dinner for a few nights! The prices aren't too bad, but you get the same amount at lunch for a cheaper price! MMmmm, I'm getting hungry thinking about it. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: 32nd and somewhere south of dodge
