  • Good Chinese Buffet in Beatrice

The decor was like most Chinese Buffets you have seen, meaning kinda average. Some people do not like buffets because the food sometimes sits on line for a while; but if you don't mind buffets this was a pretty good one. Nice selection of seafood dishes. Will add photo soon.

  • Nice Bar With Food in Center

Cattails is more of a bar than an eatery, really. It has light fare you would expect from a bar. All decently prepared but kinda average. Not much to raise it above or lower it below average.

  • Nice Cafe in Niobrara

Ole's is a nice family style place with a varied menu of steaks, seafood, burgers, braised chicken, soups and salads and other items. Friday nights they have Walleye and Catfish specials. Atmosphere is casual and friendly. They serve wine, beer and ale too. Catfish Special was great!

  • Good Chain Restaurant in Ogallala

This is a fairly typical Denny's with the usual items on the menu and decent service. Sports Bar colocated. Worth a try if you like Denny's. I enjoyed my Tilapia Ranchero.

  • Great Restaurant in Chadron

$9 as of August 2013. This is a family run affair with a nice atmosphere and a varied menu. I had difficulty choosing between the blackened catfish and the veal parmesan. My waitress, Melissa was a delight. Hours are 6 AM to 9 PM daily but open till 10 PM on Friday. I enjoyed my Veal Parmesan. On my previous visit I had the Blackened Catfish which...

  • Great Small Town Restaurant in Bassett

The Range is a combination hotel/small town restaurant/small town bar. It is located in a very nice old building in the old part of town and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Known locally as a great place to get breakfast. Inside it looks like an old-style diner with antiques and a soda fountain. Lunch tends toward sandwiches...

  • Average Food in Valentine

Okay the place specializes in steaks so maybe they do those well. The decor inside and out was nothing special. Most items on the menu were fried and the "Fried Shrimp Special" was mediocre and small portions. Overpriced for what I got. Service was indifferent. I did not go to the bar, although I heard it is a decent place to hangout. Has a bar...

  • Great Chain Restaurant in Lincoln

$14 as of August 2013. If you like family style home cooking, then Cracker Barrel is a consistantly good place to stop. The one in Lincoln was not an exception. The atmosphere was friendly and like a country home. The staff was very good. Hours are 6 AM to 10 PM Sunday through Thursday and 6 AM to 11 PM Friday and Saturday. I had the sampler with...

  • Great Grille in Mahoney State Park

$10 as of August 2013. The Mahoney Lodge at Mahoney State Park is very nice as is the Mahoney Grille inside. Lots of dark wood and a great view. The service was professional and efficient though a bit lacking in friendliness. Worth a try while at the park. Fettuccini Alfredo was great!

  • Decent Chain Restaurant in Gretna

$12 as of August 2013. This is the usual type of Denny's and my waitress was very good. Located with the Flying J Truck Stop. I had the grilled Tilapia with a cup of soup, whole grain rice and a mix of squash and zucchini.

  • Nice Steakhouse in Columbus

$16 as of August 2013> This restaurant looks pretty nice on the outside and the interior is very nice. It looks classy with well dressed waitresses and a host in a tie; but they have no dress code for the patrons so you can "come as you are". The menu includes steak, seafood, pasta and a few others. Hours are 5 PM to 10 PM Monday through...

  • Great Chain Restaurant in Kearney

$22 as of August 2013. I am a big seafood fan; so I normally am very happy to see a Red Lobster near my motel. This was a good one and my waitress, Becca, was great. Hours are 11 AM to 10 PM Sunday through Thursday and 11 AM to 11 PM Friday and Saturday. I had the Admirals Feast; which was quite good. Love their biscuits too.

  • Good Old Fashioned Drive-In in McCook

$7 as of August 2013. This is a one of those old-fashioned drive-ins where the waitress comes to your car. Don't expect a modern eclectic, vegetarian menu here; just good, artery clogging comfort food. Hours are 11 AM to 10 PM Monday through Thursday and 11 AM to 11 PM Friday and Saturday. Great hamburgers.

  • Great Steaks

Actually, the best steak places in Omaha, are Itallian. Spaghetti is always a side dish instead of potatoes or a vegetable. I place Piccolo's as the best in Omaha. There are many others that are excellent. See my Omaha, restaurant tips. Steak, filet mignon is excellent.

  • All you can eat Spaghetti!

Someone told me about this place, or we would have never thought of going there. Warning: DON'T GO THERE, if you are on a diet, especially low carb....The place looks like an old warehouse or something, but nice enough on the inside. The food was great. This is how it works: you order the "all you can eat pasta" , and then pick items from the menu....

  • Relive a Bygone Era in Bassett, Nebraska

My lunch at the Range Cafe is a good example of why I enjoy traveling to small towns, and why I am determined to visit every county in the United States at least once in my lifetime. While driving across the sandhills of north-central Nebraska I stopped at mid-day in this small town of 743 people to look for a place to eat. Downtown on Main Street,...

  • FAST FOOD CHAIN

It's fast food I know but seemed pretty decent. Their signature are these 'runza' sandwiches, which are meat, etc. in a wrap, I guess a little like a German calzone. Decent, fast, food.

A state-wide favorite is Valentino's, a Pizza chain. When in Nebraska you also must try a Runza (also the name of a fast-food chain). Edelweiss German Restaurant is not a big fancy place. It has good home made German cooking. Good food at good prices in a nice clean place... what more could you want?
