We conitnued our Road Trip from Las Vegas taking our Dodge Caliber rented from Los Angeles Airport (LAX). The Boulder City/Hoover Dam is 33 miles away from Las Vegas and driving time is around 45 minutes. Catch US 93 S from Las Vegas and remain on it to cross the Hoover Dam. I'd recommend to visit this beautiful dam but otherwise you can ignore this place enroute to Grand Canyon as you can expect delays on this portion of US 93 S

We hired a car for a couple of days so drove to the Hoover Dam. There is a multi storey car park for visitors and the cost for parking was $5.
However if you havent got transport or dont want to drive you can get tours from Las Vegas which includes stopping at Lake Mead and also includes the Dam tour and the price is about $45.

You can travel by bus or car.... We went here the first time by car but nothing beats a fly by in a helicopter.
Thats what we did in the spring of 2004 as a part of our marriage in Vegas.
We had put this of because of the cost many times but now we have done it, we both agree it's worth the money...
We used Maverick Helicopters and where very satisfied.

It's about a 36 mile drive from the center of Las Vegas to Hoover Dam which should take 45 minutes if there's no traffic jams.

Boulder City and Hoover Dam are just under an hours drive from Las Vegas.
Just take Highway 93.

There are plenty of ways to experience Hoover Dam. You can either fly over the dam on the way to Grand Canyon, or take the many tours that operate from Las Veges.
