3-acre Botanical Cactus Gardens
to walk off some of the chocolate
you got in Ethel M's Cocolate Store
With more than 350 different species,
Ethel M's cactus garden is one of the
largest of its kind in the United States.

Some of the many cacti and succulents displayed at the garden
are Ocotillo, Beavertail cactus, Compass Barrel cactus and
Teddy Bear Cholla.
Walkways weave their way through the garden, and visitors are
able to sit on benches throughout the property and take in the
scenery. Various trees, from the Twisted Acacia to the Desert
Willow, provide shade.
At Christmas, the garden is all lighted with 1,000's of Christmas
lights throuout the entire garden.

Admission to the Chocolate Factory,
located 15 minutes from the Strip, is
free. Once inside, visitors take a self
guided tour, complete with step by
step placards and can watch video
demonstrations.

Large glass windows provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse
at the candy making process, from the preparation of candy
fillings to each piece of candy being wrapped individually in foil.
The tour ends in the Chocolate Shoppe, where visitors are tempted
with an expansive array of confections. The first sample is free, but
few visitors are able to stop at just one. The Lemon Satin Cremes,
Almond Butter Krisps, Caramel Splendors, Pecan Caramel Raptures,
Coconut Delights and Almond Clusters are nearly impossible to resist. Leave a Comment

A sunset gondola cruise at Lake Las Vegas was a pleasant surprise to my wife and me as we have taken gondola rides in Venice, Italy and felt it would be hard to even come close to equalling that experience. But, the beauty of the surrounding Tuscan style village and the resort hotels that lit up the evening sky as we cruised along the shoreline came close.
Yes, cruised. Smooth and quiet with the electric motor steadying our way in the water. No oars needed. Our gondolier sang Italian love songs in Italian as we sipped champagne and ate chocolates. Very romantic. My wife was shocked to find a love note from me inside a floating bottle that she retrieved. Instead of pulling the arms of a slot machine in Vegas, I pulled the cork from a champagne bottle and hit the jackpot. Amore. Take a tour of a chocolate factory and get a free sample at the end! The factory was a lot smaller than I had expected, but the chocolate was pretty good though. Don't forget to visit the cactus garden.
Hours: 8:30 am to 7:00 pm.
