Hidden Look Out
Known by many locals as the Fire Lookout (and honestly many locals don't even know it is there), the lookout is not at the top of the grandest peak, but does give a wonderful perspective of the lake, Incline Village and Kings Beach.
To get there, you'll need a car (or ~35 minute walk) and go up the hill behind the Tahoe Biltmore (the casino on the CA/NV state line). You'll have to zig and zag through some of the residential streets on the slope, but just keep going up until the road ends.
It was used for many years by local fire fighters as a look out over the basin. Its close, convenient, yet gives a wonderful panoramic view.

A trip to Virginia City
If you are looking for something different, then Virginia City is the place to visit. Located approximately 40 Miles from Lake Tahoe, Virginia City is an old west town with a very interesting history.
The mining boom turned Virginia City into the most important settlement between Denver and San Francisco...prospectors became instant millionaires who built mansions and imported furniture/fashions from Europe and the Orient.
With gold in every hill and millions of dollars being made, men came from everywhere abd became "Bonanza Kings." Even Mark Twain did a stint here.
