Go to New York New York! This...

Favorite thing: Go to New York New York! This is a fun hotel that opened in 1997. From street level, it looks stunning, with its 12 skyscrapers and Statue of Liberty silhouetted against the blue desert sky. The Empire State Building is the tallest at 510 feet, but this is only about a third the size of the original in New York. There are also matching red and green fireboats that jet arcs of water across New York Harbor, while the Coney Island roller coaster loops and twists around the skyline in full view of the Strip. This place is just as much fun on the inside. You can walk through Central Park at night. The Greenwich Village section has fast food oulets and a fake subway station but there's even fire hydrants, trashcans, and mailboxes sprayed with graffiti! Upstairs are the traditional Coney Island carnival sideshows and attractions as well as the spot where you climb aboard the little yellow taxicabs of the Manhattan Express roller coaster. This is by far the best such ride in Vegas, racing out into the open air at speeds of up to 65mph, and spiraling through some fearsomely tight rolls. The cost is about $8. Check for times.

    Replica Statue of Liberty
    1 more image

Favorite thing: Statue of Liberty is 150ftt (46 m) tall (1/2-scale) replica at the "New York-New York Hotel and Casino".

Fondest memory: According to Wiki: "The US Post Office Forever Statue of Liberty Stamp, which was intended to show the actual Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, actually shows the replica at New York-New York. This is due to an error by the stamp designers, who incorrectly chose a stock photo of the replica instead of the original and did not recognize the difference. Over 10.5 billion stamps had been printed with the error before it was noticed, by which point it could not be corrected."

New York New York Hotel and Casino

Favorite thing: It wouldn't be New York without it. A replica of the Statue of Liberty stands outside the NYNY Hotel and Casino as part of a collection of the Big Apple's famous sights. At the statue's feet, in the canal that surrounds the hotel, a boat bears the inscription "FDNY" and a touching plaque honors those brave servicepersons who tragically lost their lives on 9/11.

A look at NY, NY from the MGM Grand

Favorite thing: New York, New York is just a breezeway away from the MGM Grand - which makes it a very convenient hotel to walk through.

The outside with the mini Statue of Liberty is a must photo for anyone with a camera.

Favorite thing: Enjoy 'The Bar at Times Square' in New York - New York hotel. They have dueling pianos that play there each night, that are fantastic. My family went to Las Vegas for my parents 50th wedding anniversery last August. And we stumbled on this establishment about 9:00 on a Saturday evening and stayed tell they closed.

Fondest memory: Seeing Elvis at the Hilton in 1976. It only cost $25 plus the tip to the matradee. What a show!!! .

    INSIDE THE CASINO

    by Graeme_Webb Updated Jan 28, 2006
LOOK AT THE SIZE OF IT

Favorite thing: I wish I could show the inside of the casino, but sorry they will not let you take any pictures, (I managed to get this one but thats about as much as I dare). Most casino floors have a theme, linked to the theme of the hotel. For example New York, New York where I stayed the casino floor was ment to be like Central Park and the bars etc in the casino had fronts to them. So when you walked inside from the strip, it felt like you were back outside (weird, huh).
My advice is, look for the hotel you want to stay in and find their website because you'll be able to see pictures of the inside of the rooms and casino.
To be honest, after staying at the NYNY casino, which was nice, I really fail to see what you are paying for. YES its right on "The Strip" and YES the casino is very nice, and YES the rooms were clean.

But you can stay in any hotel and walk into the Casino, bars, restaurants of any the hotels.

    Nice replica of New York

    Las Vegas

Fondest memory: I liked the replica of some buildings in New York at the NY-NY casino. Also I liked the Statue of Liberty replica in the front of the casino. And there are other replicas too at other hotels. So I just have one thing to say: The world has come to replicate itself in Las Vegas.

New York New York Hotel and Casino

Favorite thing: The buildings of lower Manhattan, as depicted at the New York New York Hotel and Casino. From this vantage point, about a block away, it does resemble New York City.
