The fountain shows taking place around the aquarium. The animatronic Roman statues at the Festival Fountain come to life in a seven-minute show featuring special lighting effects, sound effects and smoke.

Animatronic statues acting out the story of the fall of Atlantis. This high tech production is one of the most popular free shows in Las Vegas.

Griffon, Caesars Palace Forum

Griffon is very powerful and polysemantic majestic creature, winged lion with eagle's front paws and head, leading their family line of Greek myths.

In the modern art history Griffon can be called not only a creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle but any other combinations of these animals. Distinguish between "lion griffon", ie creature with the body of a lion, wings, sometimes paws like an eagle, but with a lion's head, and "eagle griffon", ie classical griffins , with the body of a lion, wings and head of an eagle.

I've seen "lion griffons" just once before - on the Bank Bridge in St.Petersburg, Russia.

Lake Las Vegas.

When you want to escape the high noise levels on the Strip in Vegas, head on over to Lake Las Vegas, in Henderson, about 17 miles to the east , on the way to Lake Mead.

This "Tuscany" look-like, feel like, resort area has major hotels with a casino and a beautiful championship golf course. Everything from great dining to boutique shops are found in the Montelago Village Resort, where a bell tower tolls the hours. Unfortunately, the economy turn down also brought a decline in visitors. Lake Las Vegas is near the new Lake Mead, Hoover Dam Bridge,so all is not lost, if just to visit this unique setting out in the middles of the desert.

If Las Vegas is too much for you and you want to rest, do like Celine Dion and Elton John do, go to Lake Las Vegas to chill out. Take a boat ride only 30 minutes awau from the hustle bustle of the Las Vegas "Strip." See my Henderson, Nevada tip page for Lake Las Vegas.

Fitness Classes with Cirque Performers

Shine Alternative Fitness is west of the strip but is totally worth getting to if possible. It is a gym owned and operated by Cirque de Soleil performers and workers. It is just a completely amazing experience. You can go see a show and learn some of the moves from the performers themselves.

They offer things like Antigravity Yoga, Ariel Silks, Pole, Dance Classes, Stretching Classes and much more. The instructors make you comfortable because they are so knowledgable. You actually learn from them. Definitely make it out there if at all possible. And the prices are not too bad either. Anywhere from $10-$20 for classes.

Place de la Concorde Fountain ~Gone

This beautiful fountain has been replaced with an addition called the Sugar Shack Restaurant. Also, the city is trying to conserve their water so many of the fountains are either not running or replaced with flower beds.

One of the unique faucets about these mega casinos is each of them having a theme. I hope visitors appreciate the attention to detail to the architecture. I absolutely love how much attention to this detail that Paris Las Vegas has put into the construction of their hotel. For instance the beautiful fountain in front of the hotel I can never stop photographing whenever we stroll along strip. It replicates the beautiful fountain located at The "Place de la Concorde" in Paris. It lies alongside the Seine river between the Champs Elysées Avenue and the Tuileries garden. Designed by architect Jacques-Ange Gabriel in 1763 to celebrate the glory of almighty king Louis XV of France, it saw the beheading of his successor and grandson, Louis XVI, on January 21st 1793 during the French revolution. In this square, thousands of victims were executed with the guillotine from 1793 to 1795.

Pahrump Winery

The trophy room

Just about an hour northwest of Vegas lies the town of Pahrump. There, you will find a few small casinos, and a little gem of a desert winery. As you get close to town, the signs direct you off of the highway and into a little subdivision. Once you are sure you took the wrong turn, you'll see the entrance to the winery. You'll enter into the little shop area, which also houses the wine tasting area. We were about a half hour early for the first of the three daily tours, so we did the wine tasting first - they allow you seven samples from their long list of options - some made from the grapes at the winery, others from imported grapes. The ladies behind the bar were very gracious in discussing the wines. Then, we took the tour, which lasted about 20 minutes. We saw the grounds, then the trophy room, and had it not been for the work they were doing, we would have gotten in the production area.

All in all, this is an interesting diversion from Vegas - if you're into wineries, or just food tours in general, this is a neat little trip. The side trip along Red Rock Canyon to get there has some really nice scenery as well.

While exploring Bally's Mall, my hubby decided he wanted to try one of these out. So we both did. Well I have to say it was relaxing and almost made me fall asleep. It made his back feel better too. I've seen these in other casino shopping malls too. It was actually fun to try.

Don't know if any of you young folks remember, but they have this very old fashion shooting gallery location in Outdoor World. At the time it only cost five cents to play. My boys got a kick out of it. Almost couldn't get Nate away from it.

More pictures of swimming at Vegas

Swimming at the las vegas pools are one of the activities in Las Vegas.

The Encore at Wynn has 3 pools but only the main pool is open for any age since the nearby european pool is restricted for 21 years old and above since it is an optional topless pool (that is why it is a european pool, right). The Encore pools at the Encore Beach Club are for the exlusive use of the VIP Tower Suite Guests or regular resort tower hotel guests who pay more for the entrance. the Encore main Pool is available for the regular resort tower guests of both the Wynn and Encore. The pools are open from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm everyday. You have to present a room key to enter. You can also rent a cabana for $ 250 the whole day if you want. after 9:00 pm, they become the XS Night Club.
