The Fashion Show

This mall is right on the Las Vegas Strip - it is a typical mall, but ......

Despite having the usual sorts of specialty clothing and department stores, I find the clothing in the stores from this mall so very different from the same stores closer to home.

The clothing is trendier, more varied, and just plain more fun! Of course, in some ways it's also more expensive .... but if you look for a sale when you are in town, you can plan to buy an extra suitcase to bring home your new wardrobe :)

What to buy: I was there just after New Year's and there were sales galore ... I brought home SHOES!!! Via Spiga, Weisman, Cole Haan, and more ..... yup, more than I intended to spend while there - but the sales were so good that I got 8 pairs of dressy designer shoes for about $300.00 :) Thank goodness I drove there!

We visited a large shopping mall to get away from the high prices on the strip. A cab from The Bellagio was just a few dollars and enabled us to pick up lots of bargains.

I can't remember the name but all cabbies will know it.

Artist's impression

If you don't want to pay Forum prices, try the Fashion Show Mall.

Currently completing a multi-million dollar expansion it features Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's Home,Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Robinsons-May, Dillard's and Saks Fifth Avenue as primary anchor stores.

The Las Vegas Boulevard Expansion, opened October 2003, features new retail, dining and entertainment opportunities and a new, 11,000 sq.ft. food court.

Also featured is "The Cloud," a 500-foot-long, cloud-shaped canopy that provides visual entertainment while suspended 180 feet in the air above Las Vegas Boulevard.

Outlets

If it's bargains on shoes or housewares you're looking for, Las Vegas Outlet Center is where you'll find them. The outlet mall has 12 stores devoted exclusively to the home. The newest, Dansk, located in the shopping annex, offers high-end tableware and cutlery at a budget-friendly price. The china patterns are colorful and inviting; patterns Fall Harvest and Tuscan are perfect for those fond of Roman-style furnishings. The origami-style flatware is beautiful as well as reasonably priced. Some items can be had for 30 percent off on the clearance shelves in the back of the store.

What to buy: The Nike store has great bargains on Nike Wear. Also Tommy Hilfiger also has great deals on Tommy Jeans.

Various: Major off casino shopping

Las Vegas Fashion Show Mall

If you'd like to get out of the casinos the three major malls/outlets that I can think of are...

*The Las Vegas Outlet Center (previously known as the Beltz Factory Outlet) located south of the strip;

*Fashion Show Las Vegas (recently renovated) located on the strip next to Ti (Treasure Island); and

*The Las Vegas Premium Outlets near downtown.

The flashiest of the three is the new additional west wing, called the Great Hall, of the Fashion Show Mall. It feels like a huge, high tech airport terminal, which is appropriate cuz they say they can hold five Boeing 737s in the space. Also, you aren't going to be able to ignore the humougous "cloud" structure that hangs over the Strip entrypoint. Fortunately, due to its sheer size, high end shops and location a bit away from the main walking area of the strip, you won't encounter hordes of people.

Owned by the same company, the two other "outlets" are typical centers of the class, with the "Premier" being an outdoor one and the "Outlet Center" being indoor. As with most outlets, the one that you're going to prefer is the one that has the stores you like. Be sure to visit the management office and pick up a coupon book, they're free to AAA members if you show your card.

At the California/Nevada border (30 minutes from the strip) are outlet stores such as Ralph Lauren, Bath & Body Works, Old Navy, Eddie Bauer, etc. Can sometimes find a good deal there. Indoors, set up like a mall.

For a list of shops, see the web site link below.

A new mall located along the Las Vegas Strip. Unlike the hotel shops, this one has stores in which the average person can actually buy things, if that's how you want to spend your time while in Vegas. There's a Macys, a Dillards, and a bunch of other brand name stores which are less pricey than Prada or Gucci.

Inside The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace

Shopping in Las Vegas is absolutely excellent-there are so many places to shop!
As well as visiting most of the Hotels shops on the strip, we also tooks buses to several of the shopping malls in the city. The main shopping malls are: Belz Factory Outlet, Premium Outlets, Meadows Malls, Boulevard Mall and Fashion Show Mall, Yes there are that many. Belz and Premium Outlets are great for discount named brands clothes and sports shops, where as Meadows and Boulevard are less touristy and more traditional american malls great for overall shopping. We also visited The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace which are an experience in themselves! The ceiling is painted like a blue sky with white clouds and although you are indoors , in a surreal way you feel you are out in the open. Truly a strange experience! Some of the shops here are so extravagant you have to have a look inside them just to dream! You HAVE to eat at the Cheesecake Factory if you go shopping there as the food is fab!
Also try the Desert Passage Shops at Aladdin. They have a ceilng painted like a sky too but at regular intervals in one section the sky breaks out into a thunderstorm and it rains..this is inside a building remember! How cool is that?!
