Klingons eat too! by kymbanm Okay, I am a scifi fiend! I love all things set in furturistic space continuums :) So, everytime I go to Vegas, I drop in to ride the Star Trek Experience. The cost is a little steep, but after entering, the line takes you past several wonderful displays..... To the left is a space travel timeline, that combines our reality with that of Star Trek. To the right is a series of display cases filled with costumes, props, and all sorts of 'trekker' stuff from the series (all of them) and the movies. This is a VR ride that combines live actors, the bridge of the Enterprise D, and the ride itself . Which of course, being sworn to secrecy I can't divulge :) In addition to this paid activity, there are several Star Trek gift shops, and Quark's bar and grille - I love wandering about this place! The Enterprise by thecatsmeow Star Trek: The Experience What an experience. If you are a Trekkie (or even a wannabe) you have to do this ride. You wander through all kinds of Star Trek TV/ movie memorabilia on your way to the 16 or so minute experience. Part of it is a space flight simulation ride. Very fun. Admission was $24.95 when we went but that was in 2002. Set Phasers to Stun! by M0B1US We'd been looking forward to this since we got into Las Vegas and I was expecting something really impressive for the money... It was good, but overpriced and way over commercialised to be a truly enjoyable experience, as it felt that the operators were cynically trying to cash in on Trekkies and to take advantage of them. For your money (about $25), which is more than half the cost of a ticket to Universal Studios or Disney Land, you get an ironically out of date 'History of the Future' Museum/Exhibit that doesn't even record most of the Voyager series. The Exhibits themselves are so so - the Borg where fantastic, but many of the other exhibits looked as though the costumes and equipment had been put together by rummaging through a 70's jumble sale and raiding mum's empty washing up liquid bottles. Before you reach the highlight of the 'Experience' you pose for a picture and then enter the Starfleet Gallery room where you get beamed aboard an exact replica of the Enterprise Bridge for a briefing as one of you is the ancestor of James T. Kirk (shock horror!) and the Klingons have travelled back in time to kill you all!!! After this you are taken by turbolift to a shuttle to escape the evil Klingons - but it's not as easy as that as the Klingons are hot on your tail! After the ride you are ejected straight into the overpriced merchandising area where you can purchase your picture, which is a crude hatchet job of attaching your head to a crew pose of the characters of your favourite show for - US$20!!! WHAT AN INSULT!!! Also in this area is a shop selling limited edition stuff for way out prices like US$1000. After that I needed a drink and went to Quarks Bar, one of the best parts of the ‘experience’, but also open to the public so you could come here for free. As well as all the great drinks on offer, there are actors dressed up as Klingons and Ferengi walking around and I got a free pic with a couple of them. It is worth going if only to visit Quarks, but don’t go with expectations too high… Leave a Comment

by danmcf Star Trek: The Experience and my wife the trekky of the family, she's the one on the far left The other two are the kind of rif raf they let into this place! For the Trekky in your family!! Part of the Las Vegas Hilton has been turned into a Star Trek themed area that contains a Casino, Quarks Bar & Grill, a 'historical time-line' of Star Trek with 'artifacts' to go with it. The highlight of course is the 'ride'. Kind of a combination of shuttle simulator and mini-episode that you become a part of. And once you finish the ride, you are dumped into the gift shops, including limited edition, numbered, and one of a kind items (read: expensive). Leave a Comment Directions: Star Trek: The Experience is located at the Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Rd.Other Contact: It's rather expensive at $24.95

A nerd paradise. Seriously, being a long-time fan of Star Trek, I loved this. The ride itself is awesome, and the shops have all sorts of hard to find Star Trek merchandise. People dressed as various alien species and Starfleet officers wander around, managing to stay in character, no matter what you say to them. Even if you aren't a fan, this is a fun activity. For the trekkies this is a must. It's a walk-through museum of Star Trek props and then you end up on the bridge of the Enterprise. $24.99/person Leave a Comment Other Contact: 702-732-5111 888-GO-BOLD

The full history of StarTrek is on display here, from the movies to all of the spin-off t.v. series. With costumes and other props as well as explanations on the cultures of the different alien species. Don't forget to take the virtual ride, it is the highlight of the experience. Even for someone who is not a 'Trekkie', the Experience is worth your money - although it does help to know at least a little bit about StarTrek. After the ride you'll enter the souvernir shops - Walhalla for a real Trekkie. And if the Experience has made you hungry or thirsty, you can have a drink or a bite to eat in Quark's Bar! by Krystynn Catch Star Trek The Experience right here in Las Vegas! Why don't you take a self-guided tour and view the LARGEST collection of costumes and props from this ever-popular television show and movie series. Oh, and DON'T FORGET to try out the Voyage Through Space Simulator ride too. I actually have a friend (an ex-banker colleague) who flew up to Las Vegas specially for the Grand Opening of this event. Lucky girl... she was specially invited for this occasion.... And the rest of us mere mortals could only give her this starry-eyed look... ;-)
