I could tell you how many million tons of cement went in to making the dam. That is just a number until you see it with your own eyes. It is huge! Hoover Dam/Lake Mead -Check it out-- Its about 1 hour drive outside of the city. You can make this a half day trip if you leave early and beat the crowds. So Very scenic!

If you are traveling to Vegas, the obligatory thing to do is to see the Hoover dam. You also should take in one of the little "classes" on how/when/why the structure was built. It was very fascinating.
