    Watch a volcano erupt

    by gypsysoul73 Written Jan 17, 2007

This was pretty cool. It goes on for about 5 minutes or so and from the sidewalk and feel the ground shake, you actually feel the heat of the flames. The volcano erupts every hour from 7pm to midnight so it's pretty hard to miss.

The volcano, situated on three water-covered acres, is 54 feet high and circulates 119,000 gallons of water per minute.

  • Tigers at the Mirage

I love animals and going to the Mirage to see the tigers was spectacular. It was $15 to enter into a lovely garden area with both yellow & white tigers in pens. There was also a white turkey and I think some llamas. The tigers are so close. They are beautiful animals!

    A Vegas Eruption!

by sarahandgareth Updated Aug 7, 2006

Every hour or so, the front of the Mirage erupts as a 'volcano' blows into action, spewing fire and thunder, with brilliant trickery mimicking the lava flows and the water itself catching aflame. It's all good, clean fun: it only lasts a few minutes, but it's a fun Strip stop, one of the best-known attractions and a guaranteed kid (and grown-up kid) pleaser.

    Tigers on the prowl

by sarahandgareth Written Aug 4, 2006

The Mirage is the home of Siegfried and Roy (or at least it was, until the 2003 injury to Roy) and it's where you can see their famous white tigers; because they needed them for their act (which ran for thousands and thousands of performances) they instituted their own breeding program. Just inside the entrance to the Mirage, there's a tiger 'environment' with a pool, and there's usually at least one tiger lolling in the sun, swimming around, or sleeping. Even though we sometimes wonder about seeing these animals locked up in such small spaces (although since they've been bred in captivity, they don't really know anything else), they are magnificently beautiful, sleek and captivating.

Great place to take the family...

I never thought I would be seeing dolphins in the middle of Las Vegas but that's exactly what the Secret Garden had...

Cost was reasonable $15US for adults

They had all sorts of animals, lions, dolphins, elephants, tigers, panthers

You could also view the dolphins from behind glass and watch them swim right past you.

The Secret Garden is a really nice place to just take your time and have a look around.

There are no more of the White Tigers in the wild. The Mirage and Siegfred and Roy have undertaken the breeding of the animal at a ranch outside Las Vegas. There are a few in the tiger habitat here at the hotel.

At the Mirage Hotel, you can tour the White Tiger Habitat, where Sigfreid and Roy's famous white tigers live. Since Roy's near-death mauling a few years ago, Sigfreid and Roy no longer perform at the Mirage, but their white tigers are still there and are a great attraction to take your kids to see. The habitat also has white lions, which are also rare.

    Dolphin Habitat

Unlike Seaworld or other Aquariums, the Mirage built an educational based Dolphin Habitat a few years ago. You get to watch the dolphins swim around and interact with their trainers.

You won't see them jumping through hoops and other theatrics, but rather just swimming and playing together.

Secret Garden of Seigfried & Roy

A little different sight-seeing located right at the Mirage Hotel is the Secret Garden of Seigfried & Roy. You'll be able to see lions, tigers and elephants in a somewhat natural habitat.

You can walk around at a leisurely pace and enjoy the animals.

Anna loved the dolphins at the Mirage Hotel. It was here that she learned that dolphins are mammals and that they have "belly buttons" just like humans. The dolphins live in a 2.5 million gallon habitat, complete with sandy bottom and an artificial reef.

    The Volcanic Mirage

No trip to Vegas is complete without visiting The Mirage~ to see the volcanic eruption among other things. During the day you can view a serene waterfall-visit at night and Every thirty minutes from 7:00 p.m. to midnight, flames shoot into the night sky spewing smoke and fire 100 feet above the waters below, transforming a tranquil waterfall into spectacular streams of molten lava. Really a fun sight to see.
Another attraction are the pretty White Tigers of Siegfried & Roy's . They are beautiful white with black stripes and gorgeous blue eyes.

One of my favorite features of the Mirage is the Rainforest inside the front entrance, a lush indoor rainforest housed under a 100-foot-high dome. Palm trees reach 60 feet above cascading waterfalls. There are Lagoons, as well as a forest of rich tropical plants. Great place for photos.

    The Secret Garden

by HotSpotJ Written Nov 5, 2005

The Mirage is without the Siegfriend and Roy show due to the White Tiger incident, but they still have a Secret Garden show there. also some White Tigers remain in their cages... go check it out if you are into that. There is also an old bust of S & Roy on the street in front of the Mirage, sorry about that one pic, some people thought it was funny, some thought it was in bad taste... but no partiers were harmed in its taking.

The Mirage Casino is one of the most attractive, especially during the day. Most casinos are better at night. This one has some fine gardens.

One attraction which is better after dark is the volcano. It "erupts" on a regular schedule, an event which is better at night.

    The Mirage

by Blatherwick Updated Oct 1, 2005

The Mirage opened in 1989 and was the venue for the Siegfried & Roy show. The two headliners combined magic and the use of wild animals. The show was closed in 2003, after Roy Horn was attacked by one of the white tigers used in the show. Siegfried & Roy's White Tiger Habitat keeps one of the white tigers always on view.

Another notable feature is a 20,000 US gallon aquarium behind the front desk. On top of that is Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden which houses the tigers as well as an elephant. There is also a Dolphin Habitat. In front of the hotel is a waterfall and an artificial volcano. The volcano "erupts" periodically during the evening.

Right in front of the Mirage hotel is a volcano which sits on a lake area, water flows out of the volcano but between 7pm and midnight the volcano erupts, the noise is like thunder as out of the top flames and smoke spew out reach ing 100 feet into the air. Its a spectacular sight and the warmth of the heat from the flames is really hot.
