We stayed very near here so we passed it several times both at day and at night. The 150 foot replica of the Statue of Liberty is excellent as is the Manhatten skyline that it is set against. You will also see a mini version of the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge. And, through it all winds a bright red roller coaster called the Manhattan Express with yellow cars of screaming passengers whizzing along at speeds of up to 105 km/hr. Leave a Comment

The exterior of this hotel is highly entertaining, and gives you a compacted, cartoony version of the New York skyline. There is a half-sized Statue of Liberty, you get a small Brooklyn Bridge, plus there is a roller coaster that goes around the complex as well. If you are a big fan of roller coasters, my husband reports that this one is very ordinary, and you're better off going somewhere else, such as the Adventuredome at Circus Circus. The interior is designed to take you through Greenwich Village, Times Square, and Wall Street. This hotel, as you can imagine, is quite popular and is very, very crowded. Leave a Comment

... From the MGM Grand, walk across the bridge that goes over The Strip and into New York New York Casino... New York New York is several years old and no longer the newest or most fancy casino on The Strip. Still, there are several things here worth checking out: 1. The gaming floor, which is a recreation of Central Park. Towards the back, the food court area looks like a section of downtown New York, complete with brownstones and the occasional graffiti. You can get some excellent New York style pizza here! 2. The roller coaster. Manhattan Express reaches speeds up to 67 MPH and is one of the more fun attractions in Las Vegas. It's especially fun to ride it at night, when the lights of Las Vegas are all around you. The lines for Manhattan Express can get really long, but it's worth the wait. 3. The September 11 memorial. Outside New York New York, an impromptu memorial was created after September 11. Now, the railing around the casino is covered in T-shirt from firehouses across America. Firefighters have signed the shirts and written tributes to those who died on 9/11. It's very moving to see these shirts and read the messages written on them. Leave a Comment

My boys really wanted to ride this and they really wanted me to go. I do not like heights, but occasionally I make exceptions. I knew it was high, but had no idea how high. My hubby thought it was going to be simple, so as we crested the 203 foot climb, it dropped us 144 feet going 67 mph, it left us all screaming and laughing. We did a simulated jet fighter barrel roll and then turning us 180 degrees hanging us 86 feet in the air and felt some negative g's. After we did that my yougenst screamed out loud weeeeeeeeeeee, so if he was happy, we were happy. It is a pretty awesome ride. You gotta to try it! Hours: Sun-Thurs 11am-11pm Fri-Sat 10:30am-12am $14 a person Leave a Comment

Only in Vegas can you walk from Venice to Paris to New York in just a few minutes! Because we stayed across the street, we spent a fair bit of time at the New York, New York hotel. It wasn't as crowded as the MGM Grand, and I thought there was a nice casual atmosphere, especially for the younger crowd. Of course, looking at the hotel from the outside is an attraction in itself as you can pick out many of the famous NYC landmarks in the condensed New York skyline: the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Brooklyn Bridge and of course the Statue of Liberty are all there, among others. One of my favorite features inside was the hotel's foodcourt, designed to look a bit like Greenwhich Village, which happens to be my favorite area in NYC. There are many casual restaurants and bars, including my favorite place to hang out at night in Las Vegas: the Nine Fine Irishmen pub (see my nightlife tips section). Another big attraction at the New York, New York is the Manhattan Express roaller coaster but when I saw how high the first drop was (203 feet!), I thought I'd rather live to tell about it - riding the elevator up the Eiffel Tower had already given me all the thrill I needed!! But we were a bit disappointed by the inside! At least the Casino area. On the inside it feels very much like a big, open room with a dark blue ceiling and lots of flashing lights. We went to the Big Apple lounge to relax, put up our feet and have a cocktail. Would you believe the so-so apple martinis cost $10 each? Jeez. The apple martinis were rimmed with crushed apple jolly-rancher candy, however, which was an interesting touch. Leave a Comment Phone: (800) 693-6763

At the base of the Statue of Liberty at NYNY is a collection of memoribilia left by persons from across the globe in tribute to the victims of the WTC attacks Sept. 11, 2001. A permanent marble monument has been erected and displays are changed often to include the thousands of articles left including photos, shirts, patches, flags and other personal momentos. Very moving tribute... Leave a Comment Phone: (800) 693-6763Directions: Across from MGM Grand at the base of the Statue of Liberty, on the corner.
