At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River.
The views ontop of the observation deck are truly breathtaking and the 3 thrill rides on top of the tower must rank as some of the scariest in the World.

This is another place not to be missed during your days in Las Vegas. With 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower,it is the tallest tower in all US.Is located just next to Stardust Hotel. The views of the city from 109th floor it is just amazing.
At 107th floor you will find a nice place to be relaxed and quiet, it is called Floor Lounge. On top of the tower you'll find some very exciting rides if you are brave enough:The Big Shot (Roller Coaster) and also a new ride just for the "very brave people" called X Scream!.Are you ready to try them??? :-)
Just next to the tower, you'll see the Stratosphere Hotel.

I've been told that this one's a must see, although I didn't go to the top of the tower. I hate heights. And I wasn't crazy about the Stratosphere hotel either. But its the world's tallest hotel tower, or something like that, and its supposed to be an incredible view. So I recommend taking the trip up to the top. And let me know how it was.

At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River.
From the observation decks, lounge, restaurant, meeting & banquet space and private dining rooms, guests enjoy panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding valley.
Best time to see this is at night. It is a long elevator ride, and for those who are afraid of heights I warn you now, you wont like this. The tower moves 6" to each side and you CAN feel it. It took me awhile to walk away from the door. (Yes I am scared of heights). The views are breath taking. It also very peaceful up there. ($9.00. You can find a coupon for this)

Stratosphere is the tallest building in Las Vegas. The tower's 3-leg architecture is similar to the Space Needle in Seattle, but taller than the Needle. There's a rotating restaurant, an observation deck, and a small amusement park at the top. The photo shows the ride called the "Big Shot" that shoots you up to the very tip of the Tower. Great view.

The Stratosphere Tower is a Must See in a Sea of Must Sees... In an area as flat as Vegas, a scenic lookout like the Stratosphere offers an uninterrupted view of Vegas and the surrounding areas in their entirety.
Unlike some towers, there are a few fun things to do while you're at the top... you can ride a rollercoaster, get your character painted, read the maps that tell you what you're looking at, get a bite to eat, play some video games, and shop for some souvenirs.
The rollercoaster looked a little too scary for my liking, but the free-fall ride looked even scarier. In a high-wind you can feel the tower sway a bit, so there was no way I was going to get on some thrill ride when I was already thrilled enough!

Take the ride to the top of the Stratosphere Tower about 45 min prior to sunset. (any local can tell you what time the sun will be going down.)
This is the best place in town to watch the sunset over the mountains, and see the lights come up on the strip. You'll also get a good idea of just how far those casinos are from each other. Distances can be a little decieving from ground level. The walk you're thinking of taking is usually farther than you estimate. Just remember our major cross streets - Sahara-Desert Inn-Flamingo-Tropicana - are 1 mile apart.

Check out this huge tower right in the center of Las Vegas. Marvellous view from the top. If you're not afraid of heights you can also do a rollercoaster ride or a tower shot at the top. It's a cool feeling riding a rollercoaster when you're hunderds of feet above the ground.

Yeah it's touristy, and yeah it's overpriced, but you have to go to the top of the Stratosphere at night to see the whole city in lights. You can walk around and see a 360 degree view of everything. If you are daring you can also ride the roller coaster above the viewing platform.

Of course, the hook of this hotel and casino is the tower, the largest freestanding building in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River! The tower has two observation points, an indoor one through tinted glass and an outdoor one. There is also two thrill rides at the top, a roller coaster which winds around the top of the tower and another ride that shoots riders up the needle on top of the tower and into a freefall!
