Tropicana Hotel/Casino: Tropicana Grand Hotel & Casino
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Tropicana Hotel is located just next to Excalibur hotel.Has some very good shows, like in the "Folies Bergere" in Paris and its showgirls, and is one of classic hotels in Las Vegas.During my visit to the city I saw also a very good free show with beautiful dancers and acrobats in Tropicana Hotel.(see my Free shows tip to see a picture)

    Tropicana Hotel/Casino: Vegas Showgirls Revue
  • Tip Rating:
  • No trip to Vegas would be complete until you see a showgirl revue show.

The Folies Bergere is a show styled after a typical Parisian cabaret show. Full of sexy costumes, musical numbers, comedy skit, and of course Vegas showgirls. 2 shows a night except on Sundays at the Tropicana.

Tropicana Hotel/Casino: Tropicana Resort & Casino
  • Tip Rating:
  • Tropicana Resort & Casino
Want to do the island-jungle theme but pricier venues like Mirage remain slightly out of reach? Consider The Tropicana. This venerable tropical-themed resort was doing the island thang long before The Mirage's volcano started its hourly eruptions. The Tropicana has pools and jacuzzis dotting its grounds, lush with trees, lulled by waterfalls and pools. Inside the main concourse are various exotic species on display from macaques to tree frogs to exotic parrots like macaws and Amazons. The casino's famed Folies Bergere show, meanwhile, reveals a different kind of wildlife.

Tropicana Hotel/Casino: Air Play at Tropicana
  • Tip Rating:
  • Starting around noon, Tropicana puts out a free "Air Play" show at the main casino hall every other hour. It's basically a gymnastic and acrobatic show that lasts for about 15 minutes. Both this show and the free Tiana Caroll's Bird show are relatively new at Tropicana. It seems Tropicana is trying to bring visitors back into its casino.

Tropicana Hotel/Casino: Air Play @ the Tropicana
  • Tip Rating:
  • There is a free show at the Tropicana called Air Play at 3pm, 5pm, 7:30p, 9:30p. It's occurs at a stage on top of the slot machines near the main entrance.

The 15-20 minute show consists of various types of acrobatics & showgirl routines.

    Tropicana Hotel/Casino: Tropicana Casino & Resort --...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Tropicana Casino & Resort -- an oldy but goodie
Has a feel of Old Las Vegas yet still in the Heart of the Action. Older folks tend to stay here but drinks are a bit cheaper, the casino is nice, and the pool is worth seeing. TIP: Get a Margarita or other 'Boat Drink' - they're good here!!

Tropicana Hotel/Casino: Titanic: The Artifact Exhibiton, Las Vegas
Ever dreamed about walking the decks of Titanic? In Las Vegas, you can! At the "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibiton" at Tropicana Hotel, they have an exhibition displaying artifacts from the ship itself, and several reconstructed rooms etc. from the ship. It's quite expensive to enter, but well worth the money. For an additional charge, you can get a headset with explanations, and I recommend that you get it. The exhibition is long, and it is advisable that you eat and go to the toilet before commencing the tour;) It's also colder inside than outside, but that's a problem all over Vegas.

PS: I'm glad I brought my girlfriend to the tour, because Kate Winslet wasn't there..

Tropicana Hotel/Casino: Worst customer service ever
I was promised a complementary waiver from the Casino Host, Doug, of up to $300 and I can just simply charge items to my room and after which he will pick up the tab. Therefore, I started charging several items to my room such as meals, cigarettes, and drinks to my room. Upon checking out, the staff suddenly told me that a few items such as tips, liquor and cigarettes, could not be complemented. No one ever told us that! On top of that, the $300 limit was not reached yet. Being confused like that, I called up my Host to find out why I was charged although I was promised an amount to be picked up. Guess what? He simply pushed responsibilities away and even told me, “I guess you have never been complemented before so take this as a good learning experience.” I was really really shocked that such things could come out from a Host who was supposed to make your stay at a hotel better instead of screwing it up. They do not even have the simple courage to admit their failure on their responsibility to inform their customer, and even spoke back with such words.

The talk continued with Sr. Executive Casino Host (SECH). Wow, his attitude was far worse than his subordinate. Instead of finding a way to solve the issue amicably, he just stormed into the room asking for us n was glaring at me throughout the conversation and as each second passes, his tone raises with it. “We do not need to tell you what items we will comp or not. It is not our responsibility. It is a priviledge given to you. There are so many hotel guests and you can’t expect me to be telling every one of them. This is your fault for not asking in the first place.” Those were his own words. I have never seen any hotel management with this type of service before. What?? You are complaining about a hotel guest? Welcome to the “world’s best customer service.” And the best part was that it was the SECH whom walked away first. Sounds like he had lost the conversation.
