Gondola at the Venetian by windsorgirl The Venetian is another luxurious hotel along Las Vegas Boulevard. Here, you can admire wonderful old world European architecture as colourful gondoliers guide tourists along canals of unnaturally blue water. You can venture inside to the shopping arcade where the a/c will keep you cool but you will still feel like you're outdoors under the ceilings of painted clouds. Grab a seat in St. Marks square and wait for the next free performance of Italian Opera singers or living statues. It's a great place to relax and cool off when the temperature is soaring outside! Venetian Canal Gondola Ride by emilienoelle If you come all the way to Las Vegas you have to come to the Venetian. It's gorgeous for one thing, and for another it's the only hotel, or building for that matter, that has an indoor/outdoor canal. You can take a gondola ride in the canal (if you don't mind becoming the center of attention for 100's of people) or you can just watch other people taking thier rides. Either way, you get to enjoy the gondoleer singing love songs in Italian at the top of his/her lungs. The ceiling inside of the Venetian is painted to mimic the sky with clouds, etc. and every 15 minutes or so the "sky" turns from daytime to nightime just like that! It's cool to see. The Venetian has a sort of Medieval Renaissance theme to it and throughout the hotel you will find actors dressed in Renaissance garb performing various tricks faithfull to the time period. Though I have to say that the guys in the Venetian carnival masks were sort of creepy looking. The shopping here in their Grand Canal Shops is also great, even if no one can afford to buy anything. It's great to look. I fell in love with a handbag shaped like an eggplant and covered with jewels--don't ask. Also, the Venetian is the home of Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum as well as The Guggenheim Las Vegas, though we did not have a chance to visit either. Leave a Comment

The ceiling in the Venetian entrance way by madamx The Venetian, like The Bellagio, is one of those must-see hotels, just to drink in the beautiful architecture and the overall atmosphere of elegance. On our return visit (2006) we noticed even the air is perfumed as you enter the hotel! You are taken back in time to the artistic, architectural and commercial centre of the 16th century. They spare no expense with detail, as even the washrooms in the lobby are done up in grand style. The grounds are modelled after, well, as the name says, Venice, complete with canals with gondeliers and their boats. Great concept, but I just don't see the attraction of sitting in a boat while people are staring at you as you go past. However, it really is something else. It also has a branch of the Guggenheim inside as well. Leave a Comment

This is so cool. Hubby promises me the next time in Vegas we are making the time for this. Guess what, we did and it was awesome to experience this. What was so neat is that the gentleman who was our host/Gondoler said this was very authentic and cleaner...LOL! He was from New York and came from Italy when he was 13. He had a lovely accent and sang so beautifully. We enjoyed his company. He teased the gals that shared the Gondola with us because they were from England. They live just across the bay to Italy and waited to come visit Vegas to ride a gondola....LOL! It was very relaxing and we had a picture taken by so many people. It was well worth the money. Everyone should at least try it at least once, because we did. Hours of operation: Sunday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. - midnight. Tickets for the indoor gondola ride go on sale at 9 a.m. Cost: It was about $16 a person, but that is if you share the gondola. If you want the gondola to yourself, you have to pay $64. Please double check the website of call the attraction for current cost. Reservations: Ticket sales open at 9 a.m. and can be purchased only for the same day. In a Vegas Gondola by SabrinaSummerville I know it sounds cliched, but I simply couldn't resist taking a gondola ride at the magical Venetian hotel. There are two options available - the gondola trip in the lake outside the hotel, or another on the second floor. I opted for the first and as I didn't see the second I cannot comment other than to say I know it's slightly more expensive. My choice had nothing to do with cost, but we had a dinner reservation in Bouchon at 8pm and the outside one was beside us. At 12.50 dollars per person it was delightful and very well worth it. Our gondolier sang two Italian songs to us and we travelled the little lake, under the ornamental bridges, as the sun set over the City. Photographs in a presentation wallet cost an additional 20 for one or 25 for two. The queues were short and it was a great deal of fun. Thje price I paid was for a shared gondola with two other people, but if you want to be romantic you can of course hire the gondola for two. Streetmosphere has some pretty neat shops, but be prepared because they are pricey. Not exactly, a place I can afford to shop at, but it is still fun to window shop. Especially the free entertainment of operatic performances in the main square and the living statues. These are some very talented individuals. Hours vary throughout the day, see box below. The Venetian by tere1 Of all the hotels I visited in Las Vegas The Venetian was the one that impressed me the most. The hotel is amazing! I wish I had stayed here. When you walk through it , you really feel like being in Venice. The cafes, the ambiance, the sky, everything has an italian feel. They even have the water channels, with gondolas and the gondoliers singing " Oh sole mio". The Venetian has also some of the best shopping I found in Las Vegas. You can find there Burberry, Banana Republic, Kenneth Cole, Agatha, Dooney and Bourke, Sephora, among many other fine stores. You will not starve here also. Plenty of restaurants and cafes for good dinning or just sit and have a coffee or cappucino while you watch people walking by. Leave a Comment

It's all there - the Realto Bridge, Tower, Lions! by MarvintheMartian The Venetian is amazing, these people have gone to a great effort to reproduce many of the landmarks of Venice in a truely realistic way. Okay you know you're in Las Vegas, but it really is impressive. While I thought the Bellagio was the most opulent of the hotels in Vegas, I certainly thought the Venetian was the most interesting. My favourite thing about the Venetian was the ceilings inside make it look like day time and they can bring the lights down to represent evening. The clouds also look like they are moving when you walk down the streets inside - great illusions! Leave a Comment

The Venitian seems to be many people's favorite hotel and casino in Las Vegas, and I can understand why. A lot of effort (and money) was obviously put into the reproduction of all the major landmarks of the famous Italian city. The Venitian resort opened in 1999, and its outdoor attractions feature a replica of St. Mark's Campanile, a replica of the Rialto Bridge, and an artificial "Grand Canal" on which you can ride a gondola - but at $16 per person, we didn't think the 30 min ride was worth it. Instead, we decided to walk along the canal that goes through the hotel's large indoor shopping mall while listening to the singing gondoliers. When we reached the indoor Piazza, we were pleasantly surprised to catch an operetta featuring several fantastic singers. The newest addition to the resort is the Palazzo Hotel & Casino, which actually is an extension of the Venitian. Both hotels are connected through the Grand Canal Shoppes, and together they total over 7,000 rooms, which makes it the largest resort in Las Vegas. The Venitian's Palazzo officially opened in 2008 and offers visitors a "European luxury experience". There is no denying that the Venitian is an incredibly photogenic hotel and it's worth stopping by during the day and then later at night to get the best shots possible. I can now only hope I get to see the real Venice one of these days! Leave a Comment
