It's possible to do lots of walking in Vegas. Casinos on the Strip are further apart then they appear to be! So navigate the Strip with the help of four free monorails that run between Bally's and the MGM Grand, the Monte Carlo and the Bellagio, Treasure Island and the Mirage, and Excalibur and Mandalay Bay (with a stop at the Luxor). The monorails are air conditioned, so its a nice break from the hot desert sun too!
there are monorails between Excaliber and Mandalay Bay - stopping at Luxor in between, Bally's and MGM Grand, the Monte Carlo and Bellagio, and between the Mirage and Treasure Island. Use them when possible -- they are all FREE!
There is a really nice free monorial shuttle that goes between Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur on the south side of the Strip.
The new Monorail system is up and running finally! It runs parallel to the strip, so you can walk all the way to one end, then pay only $3 to return to where you started.
The monorail is a very convenient mode of transportation if you are not driving in Las Vegas. Riding the train provides some good views of the Strip too.
With the demise of Amtrak's Desert Wind a few years ago, it is alas not more possible to travel to this place in the most civilised way possible.
