The M & M Store in Las Vegas

I bought a $42.00 M & M dispenser for my daughter. After buying all the M & M's to put in the glass jar, it cost me about $78.00.

Please don't buy this M & M dispenser because after one week, it broke and the glass shattered all over my daughter's room.

My daughter is seven years old. To get some M & M from the dispenser, you have to put .25 cents. And when the .25 cents went inside the dispenser, the M & M didn't come out, so she shoke the dispenser and it totally broke into pieces!

This is highly dangerous because the dispenser should be made of hard and heavy plastic instead of a glass!!! She ended up stepping on one of the broken glasses!

The dispenser is not a good idea at all. Please don't buy this at all. It's a waste of money and it is totally dangerous!

Avoiding the pornography
rousse9784 profile photo

If you have kids, you should be aware that there are many solicitors handing out pornographic cards and pamphlets on the sidewalks of the strip, and at night the sidewalks are littered with them. These aren't just women in lingerie, but full on nudity and pictures of sexual acts. Some tips for safeguarding your kids-- Don't walk around the strip at night with your kids. These solicitors are usually only out at night, so in the daytime you'll be okay walking around. If you're going somewhere with your kids after dark on the strip take a taxi or your own car to avoid the solicitors. Parking is free in most of the hotels even if you aren't staying in one of their rooms, so taking a car is definitely a better option than having your kids bombarded with offensive material. And if you are out at night, don't accept things people are passing out on the sidewalk. Just walk right by.

Our kids love Vegas, just not for prudes...

We have brought our kids to Las Vegas for the last two years for vacation. They are 10 and 13. We knew of these "Fliers" that everyone mentions, but if you look at them they are women with "stars' covering the intimate parts. These stars are larger than some bathing suits we see at the beach or women in advertising in magazines. If you just walk by them and ignore them and not make a huge deal out of them your kids usually pay them no mind. Ours were so amazed with all the lights, buildings and interesting people. Besides Las Vegas has so many wonderful places to visit just a short drive away I couldn't imagine NOT bringing my kids! We have been to Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Lake Mead, and so much more. Shopping is awesome here and the food! We have also done all the roller coasters and rides.

If I had kids I would stay at hotels such as Excalibur, MGM, New York, and Circus Circus since these hotels are geared towards them. I would not stay at the fancier midstrip hotels at all. They are geared for adults. Plus I saw a lot of escorts and hustlers there that I would not want children to be privvy to. They may be bored in the adult hotels as well so it is something to consider.

Curfews

Las Vegas has a curfew ordinance for young people under 18 years. Anyone under the age of 18 is prohibited from being on the Strip after 9pm on weekend and holidays unless they are with a parent. Off the Strip the curfew is 10pm for those young people under 18 years on school nights and midnight on weekends.

Not Appropriate for Children!

As the mother of a 4 year old, I would highly advise against bringing children to SIN CITY, they call it that for a reason. While I admit Vegas is my favorite place on the planet, I am an adult and am capable of understanding what is going on around me.

There are canvassers passing out ads for escort services featuring naked chics, and even the taxi's are emblazened with thong clad azzes!

Vegas is an adult playground, but in order to have any adult fun, leave the kiddies with Gramma... Always works for me ;)

Happy Child in Las Vegas

Children have a great time in the city that never sleeps and there is lots for the family to do. However, be aware that children are not allowed on the casino floor. They are however permitted to walk on the thoroughfares that criss cross the casino floors (which is lucky, since otherwise you would never be able to get out of most hotels!) But keep walking, Security men are likely to move you on if you dawdle, or your young one seems to be looking too closely at the gambling.

"Adult" Advertising

Just an advisement:
I don't know if these were everywhere or not, but on at least one occasion my husband "shared" with me the advertising card he found in a casino men's room -- featuring naked or nearly naked women. Just be aware, especially if you're travelling with kids.

Flyers of scantily clad girls everywhere!

Vegas Flyers

This might stop you from bringing kids here. Everywhere you go there are people on street corners making the "slap slap" noise of their flyers before they shove them in any guys hand. They are littered over the street, stuck in fences, on benches, in newstands. I don't see how you can prevent your kids from seeing some half-naked (or all naked) women on this trip. I just wouldn't bring them.

The one thing you will see on the streets of Vegas is pornography. Disgarded literature/pictures everywhere! There are people handing them out on the street corners...my suggestion, just walk by them. Why waste your time? So, if you have children, be prepared to do some explaining.

A: West Rim is closer to Las Vegas, but is a huge tourist trap. It isn't actually located inside Grand Canyon National Park. It's a privately run casino / resort type place.
