Lindy's is a 24 hour diner/cofeeshop located inside the Reno Hilton. We usually like to have breakfast here. The nicest thing about this place is the help. (well the food also) I think it really says something about a place when the help is the same people visit after visit. I always have had great service and more then one smile to go with it! The restaurant was named for Charles Lindbergh and has an old timey feel to it.
Sad to say that it looks like Lindy's is no longer there. There is however a coffee shop inside the Grand Sierra and I will find out if it is the old Lindy's. If you have not seen my updated Reno Hilton tip the Reno Hilton has been bought out by the Grand Sierra Resort. We shall see what comes of it. :(

The pancakes are outstanding and very filling. unless you are extremely hungry stick to the short stack (2 cakes). I like to have blueberries put into mine but you can order them plain as well. The omlettes are very good as well but a little to much for me to eat. We have split one on occasion. And the coffee here is excellent!

Archies Famous Grill: Best burgers and pancakes in town

  • The restaurant is currently closed for expansion which will include a upper deck, balcony and lounge and is slated for re-opening in Fall 2006.

This has always been a favorite of students and fans attending games and for families near Rancho San Rafael Park.

The employees have been there many years and treat customers like family (a good thing).

A wide variety of food and beverages and a soda fountain atmosphere.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken sandwich. One of the few places in Reno where you can order this "specialty-spiced" meat.

    Great, thick milkshakes.

    Huge, fluffy pancakes.

The Peppermill's Island Buffet has a comfortable atmosphere along with a little bit of a show for diners (a rain storm). This buffet has some of the best food I've found anywhere in my travels. Because they have plenty of customers the food rotates fast enough that I've never gotten ill. That is a plus. They also have a wonderful varity of seafoods for dinner, as well as a worker who will stand there and make you a cesear salad while you direct them as to "no anchovies". If you travel to Reno, don't miss eating at the Peppermill's Island Buffet. You won't be disappointed... unless...

They seemed to have dropped the green figs from them menu. Darn. Those were so good!!!

  • This place is a hidden gem in an older part of Reno. You will love it. The menu is great and the prices are very reasonable. Check it out.

Chicken Wet Burrito with a Horchata. Their sauce is tremendous.

Sterling's is the upscale seafood and steak house at the Silver Legacy Hotel and Casino. We enjoyed a nice dinner within Sterling's pleasing atmosphere. The meal starts with two types of bread, dark and light. Both were quite good. The dinners we ordered were tiger prawns that were quite massive, as well as a nice cut of a filet mignon that was cooked to perfection. The garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables served with the main course were good. The meal came with dinner salads and the dressings were quite nice. They finished the meal off with a complimentary chocolate covered strawberries. The service was excellent.

Tivoli Gardens: Great Coffee Shop and Bakery

  • Tivoli Gardens Bakery - Reno
    Tivoli Gardens Bakery

Tivoli Gardens is the twenty-four hour coffee shop at the El Dorado Hotel and Casino. The food is fairly good. Tivoli Gardens makes a good choice for a casual meal, especially late in the evening when choices are more limited. Their breakfasts are pretty good and they even offer light breakfasts for those wishing to repent after eating at a buffet the previous day. The vegetable omelet with cheese sauce served with toast is very palatable.

Attached to Tivoli Gardens, and located right at the front of the restaurant, is a full bakery. Home made cakes, pies, donuts, cookies, cupcakes, pasties, and other goodies temp guests from behind their glass enclosure. This makes for some nice dessert options for the coffee shop.

However, you can also get deserts to go. They will cut you off a nice slice of cake or you can buy the whole cake if you wish. Their entire ensemble of desserts is available to go. This makes a sweet late night decadent feast in the comfort of your hotel room very possible. The desserts are very good at Tivoli Gardens.

We ate at this restaurant twice in November, 2007 after reading rave reviews on the internet. It did not disappoint. Prices are cheap, portions are large, staff is friendly and efficient. This is a very popular restaurant and you may have to wait in line a bit to be seated. The food is well worth the wait. Ambiance is rather low, but not a problem at these prices

Shrimp Pho(Noodle soup) and #19( Shrimp, pork and egg roll over a bed of rice vermicelli with fresh vegetables and a special sauce). This is enough for two people as portions are quite large. Try the Lemonade also.

I wasn't all that impressed with the booths/seating, my legs fell asleep because they aren't broken in yet and don't bend I guess (the booth, not my legs!).

I enjoyed the decor, most especially the jellyfish lights...

I'm not the person to ask prices because I was able to comp the meal and didn't pay attention. The place has only had it's grand opening the third weekend in May 2004, so I'll have time to look at the prices.

But I really enjoyed the food... from the Green Goddess salad dressing, to the sourdough bread, to the California Roll sushi, etc...

Does anyone else remember when you could buy Green Goddess in a store? Eating salad at Oceano reminded me that I haven't seen it on the shelves for a long time. Umm... it's a really spiced up ranch-like dressing that is... well... green and has anchovies I guess. It's good though.

  • As crazy as it sounds, Greek and Chinese do go together! I have only been here for lunch, but the food was outstanding, so I can only imagine that dinner can only get better.

Spanakopita--perfect blend for the filling, and never over- or under-cooked!

The Peppermill Hotel / Casino finally opened
the much awaited Oceano, a new seafood
restaurant, sushi and oyster bar, dazzling
aquatic casino, and high tech video lounge.
It was great, we really enjoyed it ....
Great food, and the waitstaff was very prompt.

If you decide to try it out, plan to sample the freshest seafood, tastiest
pasta and most sumptuous steak in a dramatic undersea environment.
You'll immerse yourself beneath the sea with blue cast mirrors and over
240 life size replicas of sharks, manta rays, turtles, whales, butterflyfish
and other marine life soaring above.

Another exclusive attribute of the restaurant is the large aqua farm area
that sits in the middle of the main kitchen. These aqua farms feature
fresh, live shell fish such as lobster and Dungeness crab. The shellfish
are changed in the tanks to coincide with each seasonal variety.
