Not sure if they will have these ever again since the tragic accident in 2011 and God Bless all those families who lost their loved ones.
In Reno is where they have the National Championship Air Races and Air Show held at Stead Airport. Every year they have six classes of racing aircraft and has some of the best some aerobatic performers and military aircraft, aircraft displays, merchandise, food, drink, and awards banquet.

Several classes of airplanes racing around pylons. Single elimination heats. The Unlimited Class consists of mostly modified WWII fighters. They race different classes consisting of biplanes, sports class, super sport class, Formula 1, T6 Texans, Jets and Unlimited. The courses get bigger as the classes increas in horsepower with the Unlmited Class having the biggest course and the most exciting races. You just have to feel the vibration on the ground when 4 WWII fighters going 500 MPH come by and are about 10 feet apart 50 feet above the deck. Screw NASCAR! This is the world's fastest motor sport. If they touch paint, they die!
There is also a full air show each day. In 2011 the USAF Thunderbirds and a USAF F-22 Raptor will be appearing along with aerobatic teams and the US Navy Leapfrogs Parachute Team.

This is perhaps the most interesting casino in Reno. Even if you aren't here to gamble, take a look inside to see casinos' recreation of the mining era. The multi-story structure indoors is really unique.

Pyramid Lake is good to visit for two reasons: water sports and Native American history.
This lake is fed by waters from Lake Tahoe, and located entirely within the Indian Reservation. The Truckee River ends its rather short journey here, and has given life to a rich natural and cultural scene for centuries. The Pyramid Lake Scenic Byway Visitors Cultural Center, located at the south side of the lake, has a good display of local Indian artifacts. In season, you can try your luck at trout fishing, or enjoy the lake for pleasure boating all year round.

Every 4th weekend in September Reno is host to one of the nations largest motorcycle events. We happened to go down during this years celebration and it was alot of fun. There are bikes everywhere! And with all those bikes comes all the people. Reno is ready for them. Shutting down Virginia Street and several connecting side streets they make room for a large amount of food and merchandise vendors. Many of the Casino's have events going on during the 4 day celebration. Music, metal and motorcycles was the theme and there was definately all of the above. There are live concerts every night and some big names come down for it. Street Vibrations is not only in Reno. There are specialized events in Carson City, Sparks and Lake Tahoe also but the main portion is in Reno. There are scheduled poker walks, stunt shows and othe activities. Some are for participants only so you should check with the official sponsers. This is an official Harley Davidson sponsered event.

also knowned as the loneliest road in america, driving back to San Francisco via Lincoln Highway is a long cut than going via Interstate 5 but the views here are more spectacular and the roads are winding and there are lots of hairpin turns. the end is at Sacramento whrere you will return to I-5. Several hairpin turns take the highway up a grade east of Strawberry, after which US 50 continues east alongside the river to its source at Echo Summit. Echo Summit is the highest elevation U.S. Route 50 reaches in California at 7,377 feet (2,249 m). From Echo Summit down to the Lake Tahoe Basin, the roadway slowly descends the side of a steep hill; it then curves northeast and meets SR 89, which heads south to Luther Pass and overlaps US 50 northeast into the city of South Lake Tahoe. Where US 50 and SR 89 split, at an intersection known as "The Y", the former turns east on the four-lane Lake Tahoe Boulevard, which it follows to and along the south shore of Lake Tahoe, then it enters Nevada state.

Nice little museum but also instructive of just how small of a town Reno really is. At the time I was there all over town where posters advertising a Rapheal exhibit in town at this museum. When I get there, its two rooms and a single painting. Not exactly what I was expecting such a big deal to be made of.
