  • Street Hustlers / Cabbie Kickbacks

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

Beware of not only street vendors but also vendors inside reputable stores such as CVS Pharmacy. These vendors just rent the space from the store and are not affiliated with them. One guy in CVS inparticular was a hardsell merchant and tried every trick in the book to get us to book something with them. He was there to approach customers and...

  • How to Save a $

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

Sugar Factory at 3655 Las Vegas blvd will not serve you a glass of tap water. If you want water, you have to buy a 12oz. Bottle for $2.00. Also they charge a consession fee (cnf) of 3.5% of the bill. Bring your own water! I walk around with a bottle of water anyway. Nothing you can do about the cnf. Maybe choose not to eat there like I do.

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

Do not entertain or speak to the ones who are giving out the porn cards. They will try and thrust them into your hands regardless of you being with your partner. Best course of action is to walk by and not acknowledge them.

  • Tourist Traps To See

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

Please do not listen to those other fools. This tour is worth every Dam penny. Sure the picture costs 12 dollars, but they sure look great in the vacation book. You can always make copies on your computer. Besides, the whole thing makes one "Dam" great book report. Just ask my grandson. And my uncle Ron got in for the senior price. Yeah, bring a...

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

I was walking around the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas, with my partner. We were just being "tourists" walking around taking pictures of the decor inside, and checking out the Titanic Exhibition they have there (btw they sell "authentic" pieces of coal from the Titanic there). Then we had a guy in a suit come up to us, and ask if we wanted to see any...

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

THIS MAY COME AS A SURPRISE TO THOSE OF YOU NOT LIVING IN LAS VEGAS, BUT THERE ARE MORE CATHOLIC CHURCHES THAN CASINOS. NOT SURPRISINGLY SOME WORSHIPERS AT SUNDAY SERVICES WILL GIVE CASINO CHIPS RATHER THAN CASH WHEN THE BASKET IS PASSED. SINCE THEY GET CHIPS FROM MANY DIFFERENT CASINOS, THE CHURCHES HAVE DEVISED A METHOD TO COLLECT THE...

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

Don't pay $7 for the Stratosphere view......... unless you're doing the RIDES!! The rides at the top of the Stratosphere are comparable in price to most stuff Vegas (Eiffel Tower, etc.). If you're a thrill seeker, though, there is nothing more white knuckling than some of those rides at the top of the Stratosphere. If you're gonna pay $7 just for...

  • Unmet Expectations

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

We paid $55.00 per person to watch the show and I expected too much! I swear, this is not a good show at all. Besides, the girls are not even good-looking. They are just bunch of semi-naked girls who doesn't even know how to dance walking on stage! The ad-lib person was also terrible. She spent most of her time doing a stand-up comedy that nobody...

  • Illusions

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

Consider Las Vegas as a tourist trap! Nothing is real, but oh so fun! This city is a must see! The Eiffel tower on this picture is fake, the inside of the casino looks like a Paris' street scene, complete with little cumulus clouds in the "fake" sky... but they have real "Cronenbough 1664" (a good year for beer) ;-)

  • Hoover Dam/Lake Mead

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

If you're going to go to the Hoover Dam, rent a car, don't go on one of the tour buses. They are a pain, take forever. If you go in the summer, it's hot, bring lots of water. When we went in 2003 the resevoir was so low that water was not flowing over the dam, which to me was going to be the highlight of the trip right! So we just got to stare at...

Don't bother trying to call different 'Grand Canyon' tour operators unless you're doing it directly. You'll find that the phone numbers in the tourist brochure ring at the same location, supposedly a 'broker' for these flights and aother tours.

    Las Vegas Tourist Traps

CLS Nevada‎ Nice vehicles, crooked and predatory towards tourists My experience was with a driver who charged us about double what the hotel doorman told us the cost per hour would be. the driver insisted that he was correct and we were shocked enough to not get on the phone to his boss. After we paid the guy, and got into the airport, we...

  • The Carnival attitude is not limited to...

The whole state has the attitude that passersby are nothing but chumps to be taken advantage of. For example; Buying gas: I stoped to buy gas and had a $50 bill. Having to prepay, I went to the line where you do so and presented the bill. They said they could not take such a large bill, but to go past the slot machines to the teller and get change....

  • Las Vegas

ALL of Las Vegas is a "tourist trap"Don't bother going on the Monorail. It is less than 3 miles long and costs $5, and you have to go through the casinos to get to the train. Be sure that you go "Downtown". This is probably Vegas at it's worst/best. Many things to see and people are more earthy. Like anywhere else, pay attention to your...

  • Reno

It is pretty harsh to describe an entire city as a tourist trap, especially when you haven't seen the whole city, but I'm going to have to go with my gut on this one. Reno struck me as a wanna be Vegas, and I couldn't help but think that, if I'd wanted to go to Vegas, I would have gone to Vegas. I'm sure there are some lovely areas to Reno, but...

  • Gambling EVERYWHERE

Slot machines and video poker are in just about every establishment in Reno. Unless this is the reason you went to Reno you might go broke a lot quicker than you had planned. Only keep the amount of money that you don't mind throwing out the window in your pocket. Put the money that you DON'T want to lose in another pocket. When the "throw away"...

Bally's HotelOkay, I'll admit that I may be in the minority with this opinion, but I didn't like Bally's. I felt that it was hard to get around to the places that I needed to be. (I was attending a conference.) I thought that everything was too expensive and that everything was set up to be more expensive. It offended me slightly that the pay TV...

A nuclear bomb detonates at the Nevada Test Site, which covers an area of 3500 sq km (1350 sq mi) in southern Nevada. The United States conducted atmospheric (above-ground) and underground nuclear tests at the site between 1951 and 1962. All U. The Casinos - If you can not afford to lose it don't gamble, the House always wins in the end. I have seen it time and time again. Vegas is a place where dreams can be made or shattered according to the turn of a card or the spin of a wheel. It is not the kind of edge I like living my life on. Remember the saying, 'A fool and his money are soon...

The Magicians of the Century are a perfect fit for a town that celebrates overindulgence and fantasy. Even Mayor Oscar Goodman has called Siegfried & Roy Vegas' 'quintessential performers.' Certainly no show screams Vegas like Siegfried & Roy. On one level it is great to see the care the pair take of the animals, on another, it is a tradgedy they...
