Henniker is home to New England College (not to be confused with the University of New England, which is in Maine).

Henniker is a nice place to enjoy a meal out, whether for pizza, a sandwich, a good old fashioned no frills meal, or a gourmet dinner. Along the streets you will find a pharmacy complete with old-fashioned soda fountain, a bakery, a gourmet coffee/gift basket shop, a florist, a hardware store and a farm/garden supply store besides banks, gas stations and other community service businesses.

This place is a find! Sit and have lunch or dinner overlooking the Contoocook River . The meals being brought to the tables around us looked wonderful and since we were only in there for a drink and an ice cream, we plan to go back and try one of those meals.
Favorite Dish: They advertise on their website: "The tranquil view of the Contoocook River combined with the friendly and efficient staff make the atmosphere most enjoyable." And this is one time I agree with the ad. Beautiful place to sit, watch and hear the river flow by.
Next time we visit the kids, we'll go up to Daniel's to try them out for dinner. I just might upgrade them to "A Great Experience" at that time.
We'll see!

During the winter months the local residents of Henniker share their town with other New Englanders who take to the slopes at Pat's Peak Ski Area - just a mile from the center of town. The ski area has six lifts, snowmaking, a ski racing program and offers private ski lessons.
