We took our family for a Bike Ride on the Franconia Notch Bike Path. We found a rental place called All Seasons Adventures, that provided transportation to Echo Lake so that we could ride mostly downhill. They even picked us up at the Flume so that we didn't have to ride on the main road. The peopel were very friendly and were extremely helpful to make sure we were OK. The kids had a great time looking for wild animals while we were able to relax. We went at our own pace.

If you go in the winter of course there's skiing, however many of the other attractions will be closed, like the flume gorge. The Flume is a must see in the spring or fall, you can also go hiking in the franconia state park even just driving around you'll have spectacluar views. Hop on the Kangamangus highway north to see Mount Washington.

I really don't have a particular activity to do when I go on my annual trip to Lincoln, because the main reason my friends and I go there is to get away and relax. The only thing we plan on is golf, and that's only because we have to make tee-times.
One place we always make it a point to go to is The Woodstock Inn. Woodstock is the next town over from Lincoln. The have a great breakfast menu there and is the home, as far as I'm concerned, of "red-flannel hash". This is a simple concoction of corned beef hash mixed with red beets. It's got a nice zest to it. They have a nice selection of teas there. The only drawback may be the tiny portions of juice they serve.
After that, I like to walk off my breakfast, and a good place to do that is on one of the many hiking trails off the Kancamangus Highway. This is a 40+ mile stretch of road from Lincoln to Littleton. Some of the views are breathtaking. As soon as I can dig up some of these from years past, I'll toss them up here. One thing to know is that a parking pass is required at the sites. These can be purchased for $3.00 at the Visitor's Center just off the highway.

Mt. Osceola Range

Drive on the Kancamagus in either Summer or Fall for some spetacular scenic views. The first viewing point we stopped at was to see the views of Mt. Osceola Range. Unusual formations aren't they?

Completed in 1959, the 34-mile-long Kancamagus Highway crosses the White Mountain National Forest from the Pemigewasset River in Lincoln to Conway.
The Kanc (as the natives call it) spans the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River and sharp curves are common as the Kanc climbs and descends the steep slopes of Mount Kancamagus.

If you leave your parked for any lenght of time:

You must also pay for a pass to park anywhere in the White Mt Nat'l Forest. A season pass is $20 and other shorter duration passes (such as 1 day) can be had for about $5.

See my Travelogue for more pictures along the Kanc.

Don't miss Franconia Notch - north about 10 minutes on 112. See the old man of the mountain, hiking, cannon mtn, echo lake, etc.
Horseback riding at Loon Mountain is great! I would recommend the private morning rides.
