 | Manchester Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 11 | | Tucked away on a side street in Downtown Manchester, the Red Arrow Diner has survived the ups and downs of this newly hip city. Straight-up spot, in a a true dining car....the Red Arrow has the typical diner menu and assorted pies. Inexpensive and lots of fun in the middle of the night - if you can get a seat.
I stick with the basics: pancakes, omelettes, and tuna melts. But, if they've got Kielbasa, get the Kielbasa! I've eaten at "Cotton", twice. Two great experiences, and I'm compelled to recommend. Entrees are pricey for NH(avg. $16), but the diningroom is warm and the food fantastic. The ambience suggests a classic, egalitarian American bistro, but, clearly, this dining room aims to draw the elite of Manchester.
I last had a wood grilled chicken breast with choice of sides. Great service. Leave a Comment Theme: AmericanPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: most expensiveAddress: Arms Park Drive, MillyardDirections: Located off Commercial Street in the Millyard, adjacent to the river and UNH

Ladi Lalas walked out of Hungary to the West when the secret police closed his bakery in Budapest. He is originally from Timisoara, and many of the dishes were immediately recognizable to my sons when they came from Romania. The entrees are authentic, and hearty (who else serves yellow beans these days?). But it is the pastry products you want to stock up on.
I like the scnitzel and the stuffed cabbage, which is very like Romanian sarmale. Ignore that. Empty the bakery. Place looks like it hasn't changed since the 70s, but that's what makes it so great! There is always a wait during dinner time on weekends- I've found 2pm on Saturday gets you almost right in! They give you plenty of rolls and pita bread with real butter to start off with, yum! Full menu, they have just about everything in addition to take-out and ice cream...
Fried Chicken Tender dinner - they are famous for them! The portions are huge, and goes great with their duck sauce and steak fries... You'll have enough for another meal and them some! This used to be a wonderful smoke-filled greasy spoon, replete with old drunks and a jukebox with songs you had forgotten about. Since diners became chic, it has tried to elevate itself a notch: non-smoking, more emphasis on dinners than on all-night breakfast, clean bathrooms, and diner souveniers. It is still a bit of nostalgia for those of us of a certain age, but it is less authentic than it was.

Seafood and Steakhouse.... I've always enjoyed their steak.
My favorite meal is Filet Mignon and The Yard always served a great one. Their Sunday Brunch is VERY popular also and I enjoyed those as well! Everything you can think of is set out to pick from. Leave a Comment
