New Hampshire Tourist Traps

  • Deuling Gorges! Flume vs. Lost River

Which one of these is a tourist trap? Answer: one of them is!What does THAT mean??? I mean that there really is no need to see both of them - one or the other will do. I saw them both in one day, which, by the way, is very easy to do. Each has it's advantages and disavantages...FLUME GORGE:Pros - on the beaten track, more historical, the main gorge...

  • Six Gun City- BORING!

I wasn't too sure where to put this but decided on Tourist trap! We went to Six Gun City last week and I'll never go again. the Main Part of the park was extremely boring. They had a little cowboy type town set up. It could have been really cool if there were hired actors but they used Dummies. You look in the jail and see a store mannequin ......

  • Cannon Mt

Cannon Mt...Ski resort by winter, Mt. Bike or hike by summer (ok you can do that too in the winter, but I'd not recommend it). Take the tram to the top; great views..Great skiing if the weather holds...if not, well, great boilerplate.. So you don't like the mountain...there are many more alternatives (see more tips)...Flume Gorge, Clarks Trained...

  • Paint ball is fun!

One thing about New Hampshire is the outrageous forests that are here. For many of the adventurers this is a great bonus and reason for visiting the state. Outdoor sports ranging from leaf peeping to paintball are abound here. I am a big fan of paintball, and any small to large group can find hours of fun with this sport. If you do go to a...

The Flume Gorge. It's a really cool thing to see and experience, and is set up very well for a tourist trap, but it seems so wrong to have to pay an admission to enter an area of natural beauty. But it works for those whose idea of adventure involves a camera as essential survival gear.

  • On Rte. 3 near Franconia Notch...

At least, I think that's what's happening. It looked too mean to me, so I didn't stop. And speaking of Franconia Notch, the view of the Old Man of the...

  • Hampton Beach is a great...

Hampton Beach is a great place, but if you are traveling with tiny companions you may want to go to one of the beaches just north or south of Hampton. The water is still great and they all have indoor plumbing and usually a snack shack. This way you will beat the traffic and there's room for the kids to run around without stepping on other people.
