the ATM's are a heaven sent specially if your debit card runs out of cash of your credit card is maxxed out so that you can withdraw instant cash but the only downside is that you would spend more if you are a gambler and with extra ATM in hand so try to use it only in extreme times. The ATMs here are everywhere and as usual, they have banking charges added if you withdraw money exluding the bank charge of your local bank and the charges vary but be sure to withdraw larger amounts since the bank charges are the same whatever amount you will withdraw. The ATMS can also be used by the International Travellers since they are affiliated with Plus and Discovery and Cirrus Consoritums.
Fondest memory: ATM's are heaven sent for people short on cash on low and credit that is if you have money in you atm account.
Atlantic City New Jersey is a gambling and resort community located on Absecon Island on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean that is the second largest in it's kind after las vegas in the United States. Since I stayed at the philadelphia suburb of lansdale at my nephews house, I've learned that this is a favorite destination of pennsylvanians (my nephew was an gambler) when they want to gamble since gambling here is legal unlike in pennsylvania and that it is just a 2 hour drive from philadelphia via the walt whitman bridge then off to the Atlantic City Expressway.
Atlantic city was like a miniature vegas and the big vegas casinos like harrah's, ceasar's, bally's are there.
Fondest memory: Aside from the endless casino's and binge eating plus the buffetts and lap dance hehe(dont forget the HOOTERS), the best would be the factory premium outlet shopping of which atlantic city is the first to offer it within city limits since factory outlets are usually one to 2 hour drive from major urban areas into the exurbs. Only oregon will be better since it has no sales tax!
There are designated smoking and non smoking areas in all the Casinos in AC. The non smoking areas are usually tucked away to a corner and provide a small area of smoke free environment (though this is tuff since smoke travels), where you don't feel like you are chocking from all that smoke.
I would advise that if you are a non smoker and want to play the slots, find a machine further from the main area as well as for the table games.
The areas will have signs or postings as to whether the area is designated smoking or non smoking.
The parking lots at the individual Casinos charge for parking, even if you are staying as a guest of the hotel (expections, see below). As of 2009, there are various levels of parking fees as follows:
$20 - Non Rewards Members
$ 5 - Gold Members
$ 0 - Platinum or the equivalent
You can also pay with Reward points that you may have in your card.
** Bonus - If you pay the fee at one parking lot, you are given a curtosy of one additional lot for free at any of the other casinos, just show your receipt and you won't have to pay again.
On the Atlantic City Expressway there is a huge Visitor's Center where you can stop and grab some maps and other related information especially places of interest located nearby. You can also find your usual tourist items for sale like postcards, books, magnets, etc.
You can also find a Visitor's Center on the Boardwalk, next to Rainforest Cafe on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
Both locations provide the same information and if you have a particular question, ask the host handing out maps.
Visit Cesear's Palace and take a photograph with one of the Romans, Cesear or Cleopatra.
*** Please note, I have been to Ceasar's numerous times since this tip was made and have not seen anyone walking around in costume, it is possible that it no longer exists.***
I always give this advice to anyone that is coming to any casino, pace yourself. If you plan to do some gambling, either the slots or the tables, set limits to how much to plan to spend and stick to it. You will be a happier player and most likely walk away a winner.
It is easy to get caught up in the excitement and loose more money than you wanted, so take the amount of cash you decide to play and don't hit the ATM's...you will be thankful that you didn't. More people loose than win and so many come to AC to "hit it big" and walk out loosing their week or month's salary, or worse, their whole savings.
Many of the casinos offer rewards programs. The more you gamble (the more money you spend) the more comps they offer you. Comps can include free meals, shows, and even nights in the hotels. The programs are free to join and only take a couple minutes to sign up. It's definitely worth it if you're going to be visiting these places frequently.
We signed up for the Total Rewards Program, which is good at Caesars, Bally's, Harrah, Showboat, etc. It's also good to be used at these casinos (and their sister casinos) in Vegas, Biloxi or wherever the company owns gambling properties.
Many people think that having a casino card, is simply for gambeling. I can assure you, it is not just for gambeling. Casino cards, are like discount cards. With them, you will get half off parking in the garages - which is a plus , at the taj , you get free parking ( but only if you have your card up front ) -- that is where they get ya ... you pay before you park . So tell someone to go inside and get a card, wait outside and when they come back with one - THEN park in the garage - its free ! All the cards are free to get, it just takes about 10 minutes, and you got your ticket to everything ! Spend 5 bucks on a slot, and you will start getting coupons sent to your house, and you may even get a comp on a room !
*Casino cards are not the devil , they really do help !

For the 3rd year in a row, Atlantic City hosts a free air show on the beach. The center location to see all is at Historic Boardwalk Hall, right next to Trump Plaza.
This is fast becoming a favorite of tourists & locals alike & it's free for the watching. Just go out to the beach, sit down & enjoy! The beach is free also, no beach tag needed, you may bring coolers & chairs or rent any of the numerous cabanas in the beach bars or free standing. It occures every year at the end of August, so feel free to plan your trip then & come see me too!
Fondest memory: The tang of salt in the air, the crashing of the waves against the shore, the call of gulls winging overhead along with the shouts of excited children & the lifeguards whistle are what set this air show apart from all others.
Favorite thing: After a hard day at the tables or even just walking up and down the Boardwalk, who wouldn’t want a massage? There are several establishments, although they seem to be clustered at the south end (Downbeach) end of the Boardwalk. On offer are Aqua Massage, Chinese Massage, Back and Foot, Acupressure and Tuina.
Favorite thing: Just in case you need an excuse to take someone’s picture, the Boardwalk offers a multitude of props for that Kodak moment. See my Boardwalk Kodak Moments for pictures of other points of interest along the Boardwalk.
Stop into the Atlantic City Expressway Welcome Center on your way to Atlantic City. It's located on the Atlantic City expressway just before you reach the city. The people are very friendly and helpful. They gave us some really good coupons for meals and fun, 1 was worth $20.00 for lunch, buy one get one buffet at the Trump Plaza, which was really good food and service. So stop by and check it out for your discounts.
Fondest memory: Atlantic City Expressway Welcome Center Farley Plaza Rest Area
Favorite thing: Over the years, the casinos here have really changed the look of the casinos..they all have their own theme and parts of casinos are decorated specially to reflect a certain theme.Here at Bally's its the " Wild Wild West" theme and they have animated shows too ,every 15 minutes or so,right outside the wild wild west section.its nice for families and visitors.
Our should i call them Sand Sculptures...
These large sculptures a really worth taking a look. If you see them being build it might look easy but i don't think i would be able to make anything that looks just a bit like these...
Fondest memory: Seeing the building of these works of art, unbelievable how people are able to build these and keep them standing for a long period.
