TSOP Philly Bistro: TSOP Philly Bistro: Good Food, Insulting Service

A friend and I went to this very hip restaurant in the Tropicana Casino on a Saturday night. The ambience was very nice and so was the food. We both got a pasta with seafood on it, which was very tastey. However, the service was very insulting. In fact, I have never had such horrible service. From the minute we walked into the restaurant, the hostess had an attitude toward us. We were dressed up so it should not have been because of our appearance. When our server found out we didn't want to order drinks, immediately he had an unpleasant attitude. After he took our order, he ignored us for the rest of our meal. He walked past our table over a dozen times and did not say one word or ask us how our food was. Besides taking our order and giving us the check, he did nothing else for us.

Club Mixx: Club Mixx

I made a reservation for Club MIxx two months in advance. Funny how they still made us wait a half hour to sit down. After that though, it was a nice experience in Latin/Asian fusion food.
There were more than 8 in my party so we were required to get the "chef style" menu. It was excellent; the food tasted great, there was enough for everyone and each of the courses was served without interuption.
The only downside was the waiter. He never really checked on us and had a rude attitude when it came to taking the bill. For the 20% service charge tacked onto the bill, you'd think he'd be a little nicer.

The food was good, but I do not think I'd return.

Dynasty (Taj Mahal): Authentic Chinese cuisine
Icemaiden02 profile photo

Icemaiden02 107 reviews

Located within Trump's Taj Mahal, Dynasty offers a succulent menu that is surprisingly authentic Hong Kong/Cantonese cuisine.

Portion sizes appear small, but at end of meal, we were very full. We ordered 1 appetizer (a Dynasty mix special consisting of pork dumplings, BBQ spareribs, beef sate, and spring roll for $9.00), and three main entrees (Orange-flavored beef for $20.00, Chicken in Black Bean Sauce for $18.00 and Crispy Fried Tofu in Garlic Sauce for $11.00). Service was excellent and very attentive.

Dinner is served 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Reservations required on most nights, call ahead or leave name with hostess (wait is around 20 minutes).

Favorite Dish: Crispy Fried Tofu is very good dish, some chili spice but delicious!

Ventura's: Fabulous Food!

This restaurant is right on the beach, with outdoor seating, weather permitting. There is a bar downstairs and an elegant restaurant upstairs. They play lovely, light classical music here which adds to the enjoyment.

Favorite Dish: Jumbo shrimp Aurora is my favorite dish. Huge shrimp with penne pasta, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms in a creamy tomato sauce......yum. Followed by apple cinnamon cobbler with vanilla ice cream.

Angelo's Fairmount Tavern: Great Italian Dining after Gambling!
Icemaiden02 profile photo

Enter the restaurant to an old-fashion bar. (Beware cigar smoke). Walls are covered with old sports-related newspaper articles and memorabilia, such as NY Yankees greats and magazine covers, or autographed photos of boxing heros.

Waitstaff are very friendly, check on you often, recommend great wine. Gets a little loud sometimes if you're seated close to the bar.

Valet parking available, and the attendant will personally escort you from the door, round the corner to your car. Great service all around!

Extremely popular amongst the locals!

Favorite Dish: Large lobster raviolis served with lobster tail in a creamy lobster bisque-type pink sauce. It's simply delicious and sometimes found on their Specials menu.

Giovanni's Best of Italy: Great Authentic Italian

Situated about 10 minutes from the bustling center of Atlantic City sits this small and wonderful authentic Italian restaurant. The menu offers simple italian dishes which can be found in most Italian Restaurants. A selection of various pizzas is available too. Giovanni's has a modest BYOB atmosphere, and its lower prices make it ideal for groups and family meals.

Favorite Dish: Giovanni's is famous for its Lasagna, and I couldn't imagine getting anything else. The Clam Bisque is pretty good too.

Gilchrist Restaurant: People Really Eat Here?

Building sitting across the street from Gilchrist

In 1946, a small diner-like restaurant was opened in the northwest corner of Atlantic City. Now, almost 60 years later, the Gilchristt Restaurant, which sits in a dilapidated and undesireable neighborhood in the shadow of the glitzy Marina casinos, remains unchanged in almost every way possible. When one arrives at the neighborhood in which the restaurant is situated, they will problably want to turn back instantly. One gasp at the restaurant will make them want to leave. But for those that enter the thick red door, they will find a bustling, noisy, and hectic restaurant which is still serving up some of the best food in town. If you're coming for breakfast on a weekend morning, be prepared to wait for upto 3 hours. This place really is the most popular breakfast joint in the city!

Favorite Dish: Pancakes. Well, actually they call them hotcakes. It's what made them famous, and some argue that they still serve the best pancakes in the country. Try them for yourself. You won't be disappointed!

Broadway Buffet at Trump Plaza: Youre Fired!!

Broadway Buffet @ Trump Plaza

I came to this Buffet thinking since its in Trumps hotel it gotta be good. I was wrong. The place looked pretty old, which im guessing it is and the service was not too bad, but the food just sucked. I was expecting Bellagio, Mandalay Bay instead i got Trump. I guess its not fair to compare anything in Atlantic City to Las Vegas but when coming to a city like this you have to expect the best. And since you pay $20.00 for lunch which is basically the same price at LV buffets they should at least be comparable. The Salad bar was small, the selection for the main course was OK but nothing really taste great they were all pretty bland. The dessert bar was small but had an ok selection. I dont know if there are any better buffets in AC so i cant say whether to go or not when looking for a buffet. But i wouldnt recommend it. Spend your $20.00 at a better restaurant....

Hotel Buffets: All You Can Eat

Sultan's Feast - Trump Taj Mahal

A buffet, for the uninitiated, allows you to pay a fixed price to be allowed to eat all you want for a meal. The food is displayed along a long counter. You pay your money, are directed to a seat and then help yourself to the food. Non-alcoholic drinks are provided by a server on request, although it is expected that you will tip your server. Some hotels provide different selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Prices (if not the selection) is often increased during the weekend.

Unfortunately, paying more doesn’t necessarily mean better quality or improved selection. None-the-less, price is one criteria with which to compare buffets. It also provides some insight into the type of customer each hotel is trying to attract.
